Actually no....in relation to the SYP hierarchy handling of the Hillsborough events then yes, evidence of opinion was removed from the statements of police officers on the ground. Nothing was added, words not changed but any points where officers were seen to criticise the commanders on the day was edited out. It could be argued that this may well be correct, as statements are supposed to be facts...NOT opinion. In fact This is done on a routine basis in all cases, often in discussions with defence and prosecution lawyers. It certainly does NOT point as fact that police officers statements then or now will be lies as you are suggesting.
in fact it is a little ironic that you can cast aspersions on the integrity of the few officers at the game in Cleethorpes due to the actions of a few senior police officers over 25 years ago while raising the point you have about this "poor chap" being given a hard time about being found guilty of football related violence.
I do know quite a few who were there, both from Grimsby as well as Sheffield. I also know very well a few of the coppers who were having running battles with fans of both sides. And being honest i was actually quite ashamed when one of them referred to fans of my club as Scum! But after hearing how 3-4 young blades were seen jumping up and down on the head of a Grimsby fan I can understand their opinion.
I hope every single one of these morons is identified, put before the court and given their punishment.
