In order to avoid relegation this squad will obviosuly need to perform quite well over the remaining matches. Around 1.6 points per game will be needed to survive if Forest/Brentford keep up their one point per game.

So basically this team need to perform like the 7th placed Manchester United over the remaining fixtures. Does anyone really see that as a possibility?

There is no chance at all of that happening. None. It might be time to play youngsters and players that will remain next season.

One for the stats guys tbh, but we have a better 2nd half of the season than most around us. We have played 7 out of top 10 away from home and Citeh twice. Key losses so far were to Florist and Luton. The league is so distorted now so 34 or 35 pts may save us. So 1.4 or 1.5 pts per game may be enough. Straw clutching I know, but we still have something to fight for. Next 5 to 10 games will decide our fate.

If the team was playing powerhouse footy there might be hope, but our inability to score along with a staggeringly rickety defense means our goose is most certainly cooked.

I don’t think we’re going to get to the 20 points that Forest are on now without a massively different set of players. We certainly aren’t catching them.

Listening to Wilder post match - he's excited about this period now up to the West Ham game.

In relation to last summer this will be the pre-season that we never had, this will be (hopefully) the transfer window that we never had.

There'll be the opportunity of getting injured players back and spending time on the training pitch.

It's a well-worn cliche but our season starts now.

Performing like Man U looks possible but winning games and staying up doesn’t

I think it’s too late and the timing of getting rid of Hecky was poor. Wilder hasn’t had the time to work with the players properly, though we have seen improvements. January now offer us that chance, but it’s too late now.

Not too late to begin recruiting and assimilating younger players to produce a squad capable of winning the Championship and continuing to improve.

4 points from Wilder's first 6 games = 0.66ppg (not quite enough)

However! We threw the points away to Luton and could have smash and grabbed a win at Villa. Those 5 points would've taken us to 9 from 6 = 1.5ppg

This has been a tough run (3 tough aways and 1 tough home game) and the only games we've not really had a chance of getting something from were City & Chelsea.

Liverpool were the better side against us but both goals were contentious (to different extents) and we did enough that if we'd salvaged a draw it wouldn't have been totally undeserved. The xG finished as 0.99-1.69 and was 0.66-1.22 until their second.

Obviously we didn't take those points and you can't ignore the flaws that were the reason for that but now is the first period where Wilder has some proper time work with them on the training ground and it's seems like we're trying to upgrade at both ends of the pitch in the January window.

Never say never
