People saying Weir out.....

It does not matter who is in charge (though 1 up front is idiocy). this is the poorest set of players seen at this club in 30 years, and possibly ever. That is the reason we are in the mess we are in.

I actually heard a numpty screaming "Weir Out" at the top of his voice at the final whistle. You're almost as daft as him.

Funny that Deadbat's match report equates to many of the things I raise here. I'll console myself that in the daft stakes there are at least you and your numpty friend ahead of me.

I'm strangely upbeat about yesterday. 15k crowd and what went off on the pitch - I'm pretty sure we've pretty much reached the bottom now, and in years to come we'll be saying 'Do you remember that MKD game? Jesus!'

There's really no guarantee that we've bottomed out. There a whole division below us and unless we learn to find the net were going to visit it again.

Oh, there's far more than one division.

We have been poor so far this season. It's your 3 month deadline that's daft. Weir is tasked with changing the whole ethos of a club (shamefully) steeped in Hoofball. It took decades to earn our wretched reputation. You think three months enough to repair the damage? It's the very epitome of daft.

OK then, say we're 20th n the league on November 2nd 2 points behind the drop zone, at what point do you say shit we could end up in League 2 here. The fans saying it is now worse than under Morgan, we are clearly going to struggle what do I do?

1. Carry one, Weir is great he needs more time
2. Crikey Weir can't get these guys to play at all, this is going the same way as Speed/Adams and the financial implcations are horrendous thus do we
2a Buy like mad in January,
2b Soldier on, it'll be ok we'll pull through
2c Make another change.

The point being at what point do you act to preserve our League 1 status if it does get that bad or do you say, nah I can suffer relegation to League 2?

OK 3 months was based on previous evidence that a change in November would be the only realistic chance of maybe saving status, since after Christmas might be too late.

It might be ok, hey its only 6 games into a season, but if it isn't what's your contingency plan or is relegation a price you'd easily pay to persevere? It is a decision many Boards will face no doubt.

If McCabe is going to pursue your philsophy, in terms of relegation being an acceptable price to pay, don't you think he should therefore come out and say so?

Not really true. We've spent the last 2 seasons trying to play football and clearly proving you wrong, it's not simply the key to success. Everyone's been behind it and we've gone backwards. You can debate why that's happened, you cannot deny that we have gone backwards in 2 seasons, trying play football.

None of it really matters, We are shite because the players are shite. I think Weir could get more out of them, and given time will. Either way, it won't be enough from this bunch.

Seriously who is saying Weir out? Absolute nonsense! The man has had a handful of games with a poor squad. It looks like at long long last we might have a realistic opportunity to improve the squad so he might have half a chance now. He's trying to implement a modern, effective way of playing that can take us upwards. Getting behind him ffs.

I've heard none of this. There will always be an odd individual, there's nothing that can stop that. Not good enough so far mind, but a handful of games is just that.

A poor squad you say ? I'd say arguably the worst squad to wear the red n white stripes in living memory couple this to a very inexperienced manager who at the moment is playing Robsonesque tactics of pass it sideways and backwards and pull every player back to defend corners, the only difference being Robson brought in old journeymen looking for a last big pay packet Weir is scratching round the lower league for freebies. It didn't work under Robson and it will not work even with younger players for Weir at least not until we start playing at a higher tempo or we get better players who have more ability and speed of thought.
I don't think anyone apart from Brian the blade thinks we should get rid of Weir but if the current crop can't play or even think faster he must soon change the system to one that the thick tw@ts can understand or patience will start to wear thin, especially so if we drop into a relegation scrap.

Most of us seem to be reading off more or less the same page for once. Seeming to be in agreement that the players aren't good enough to make it work. I do think what he's trying to do is right and in time he will have better players and get the best out of a few current ones.

Oh, there's far more than one division.

Calm down! Calm down!!

This was always going to be a medium to long term job. United got nothing out of yesterday’s game because of individual errors at both ends of the pitch, something you tend to get with young players and the more tense young players get because of unrealistic expectations placed on them the worse it gets. There are some players at the club who are not really fit for purpose but they have legally binding contracts and that can’t be changed overnight. Money is finite and will remain so because of the financial regulations which clubs have to abide by. That may change a bit, if and when we get some new investment, but the club will still have to operate within the rules.

In these circumstances, I think that David Weir is exactly the right type of manager for the job. How he has conducted himself so far is a credit to the club. Even Alex Ferguson didn’t pull up many trees initially when he took over at Manchester United. In truth I would settle for mid-table this year but it is still very early days and I am quietly confident that United could well come upon the rails at the end of the season and sneak into the play offs. Who knows but I’m as likely to be right at this stage as the Weir out! / promotion is out for this season / Worst set of players for thirty years / We’re all doomed Brigades. They will be forgotten as soon as we string together a few decent results.

This is about the future of our football club so let’s get behind them and become the twelfth man. However, this doesn't prevent the supporters criticising (as opposed to abusing) the club where that is justified. Collectively we contribute a very significant amount of money and are entitled to a view, something the club is trying to address. After all, this is supposed to be a pleasurable pastime not another job of work!

He gets until Christmas to get us out of relegation trouble, because make no mistake I believe we will lose three of the next four games at least and that will mean bottom four and shit storm aplenty.

I'll accept mid table rebuilding this season, relegation fight.. NO!

I'm sorry but you are in cloud cuckoo land. We are shit and unless this investment means we get some significant new players in we are mid table at the very best. Combine that with a new manager who like it or not is finding his feet and you have what you have. If you won't accept a relegation fight I suggest you look away from the screen when the results come in.

I will say this about Weir:
- Where is the passion on the touchline, I know he is own man but can't help but think some of his role models and the best Scotch Managers (Fergie/Moyes/Smith etc) would have been giving it some. He reminded me of Nobson in his body language.
- The formation is not working
- Where is Porter - why is he not playing? He is better than some of the guff at the moment. Even if you don't like him at least play him until you have got someone in who is definitely better
- We need more steel and strength
- We need more leadership
- We are physically weak in the middle of midfield
- Why aren't we making more of our very strong and powerful centre backs
- Why are set pieces defending and attacking so poor (Carsley?) in both technique and organisation. Why do we let McMahon waste everything he didn't even manage to loft the ball off the ground today
- Stop your team making the same mistakes over and over again

I hope he is on his mobile all tomorrow and Monday sorting out the 3 new strikers we need. That would be a good start.

I can't believe you got a like for this lot. Passion from the touchline? Do you really think that a bloke standing there with his head on fire will make any difference whatsoever? We had Morgan for the passion and look where that got us. When will people get over this idea that making a lot of row and waving your arms about on the touchline will make any difference to the 11 twats on the pitch? They just think you are a cock.

Formation? Do you think this is the difference or is it 11 poor players? You can play 4-3-3, 4-5-1 or 4-1-3-2 it won't make any difference.

More steel and strength? Gerrintoem!!!

Leadership? Stop it, your hurting my sides now.

Physically weak in Midfield? Really? I just think we are shit.

Our Centre Backs? What should we be doing. One is our leading scorer so I would say we are making the absolute most of a bad job here.

You play Championship Manager much? Sounds like you can sort our problems out with a hair dryer and a tea cup.

Can you ask your nipper to stop doing drawings of BDT and get some Hoofwaffe T shirt designs knocked up? I'm thinking. Phalanx of Henkel flying off into the distance whilst Red and White striped artisans knock balls into their midst. Pinch can bulk order from RAPFA funds and award one per week to most deserving poster.

Absolutely. This "passion from the touchline" refrain is nonsense. The logic is simplistic and flawed. Very much like the 'doesn't use substitutes' argument. Both come from the 'Boys Guide to Football Analysis'.

Further to McCabe's comment about 'improving the management team' on Saturday perhaps there may be a call to Walter Smith offering him a 'Director of Football' role now he's not doing much in Glasgow.
At the moment I think Weir is a wee bit out of his depth and needs a bit of a helping hand
His ideals and ideas are to be applauded but unfortunately he inherited a load of sh!te players who seem incapable of carrying out the basics of football!

While I don't think anything like this will happen I was actually thinking exactly the same thing yesterday!

I don't think he's out of his depth at all.

I think he knows exactly what he wants to do and is going about that systematically and bit by bit.

Rome was not built in a day and nor are football teams - they're player by player, bit by bit and until the ratio of crap:good starts to swing in the other direction we're going to just have to grin and bear it.

FWIW, we'll probably be a bit further towards that tipping point by midnight tonight and our new sugar daddy has just chopped a few miles off a very long road.

Just as a matter of interest, has anyone actually suggested we dispense with Weir at this point?

At least if we got rid of him now we'd have a contender as an actual "scapegoat", as opposed to the ones that people are so keen to wrongly acclaim on here.

Just don't get this systematic bit !
Do you mean that he's now tried four left backs and ended up playing the guy who played there last year!
I was pleased when we appointed Weir as he appeared the best of all the candidates but to date I am not sure he has demonstrated any qualities of improvement Murphy and Flynn are still weak, Williams is still poor, Maguire and Collins still make the same ricks week in week out, we've recycled all the dross Porter, Williams et al ,we still can't score!! and we've got rid of the only decent footballer we had!
I am not sure when this crap:good ratio begins to kick in - Perhaps when we've bought another ten players with our newly found wealth!

Ah, the old passion on the touchline jibe, Wilson got the same but warnock was described as a fuckin lunatic jumping around on the touchline. Personally I don't give a shit how he is on the touchline

I think the showing of passion thing is irrelevant too, but even so... his reaction when Brandy missed was far from lacking passion.

He might be quiet on the surface, but I wouldn't have liked to have been Brandy on Saturday after the miss and getting himself sent off.

From what I have seen Carsley has been animated on the side. Mainy belting at people to do their jobs properly. Who cares if we are winning? The problem is we aren't, so every fool in the crowd is going to think we should be doing certain things differently and I include myself in that. We have to wait and see... Let's hope the recent adversity gets the team pulling together and we can grab a result in Rotherham, with vocal support dragging the team over the line. COYRAWW!

I don't know if it would make us any better but id love to see someone on the touchline with their head on fire , maybe colin
