Pellistri

Initially found this odd as he's described as an out-and-out right winger. Having looked at a couple of videos, he does seem to be more balanced. Comfortable with both feet and looks like he actually plays 10 but could even possibly be used as a striker.

My concern is that we can only name a squad of 25. We have 23 seniors at the moment, or 22 if Fleck is done for the season unless someone else goes. I thought we'd go one CF, one attacking midfield and one left midfield. If that's the case, this would be the attacking midfielder.

PS Those Twitter replies from Man Utd fans are hilarious in their exaggeration... 'If we let Pellistri go this club is finished' 😂
22 senior players, we don’t need 3 keepers

Mike McGrath of the telegraph reporting we're discussing a loan for him. Replies in the tweets I've seen have man ure fans saying he's better than a lot of what they've got. Winger but could be good enough to play other roles for us?

Yea saw this one and he pops up all over the place...

If Amissah or Dewhurst were under 21 I would agree, but they are both of age to count as seniors. Maybe we have someone else or will get in a decent 20 year old, but I can't see us going with just Wes and Davies as our only viable keepers. We don't have Jags anymore!

It’s in the Torygraph. Behind a paywall.
Any chance of a cut and paste?
Cheers

Facundo Pellistri wanted by Sheffield United

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are in talks over a deal for Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri to join them in one of the most ambitious season-long loans of the Premier League summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been targeted for a place in Paul Heckingbottom’s squad for the campaign and the Blades have made a move for the young forward who played at the World Cup with his country last year.
Pellistri, who came off the bench in the win over Wolves last week for Erik Ten Hag’s team, will need United to sanction the move before a medical and other formalities of the deal are completed.

He could be one of the most high-profile players available on loan at Old Trafford, with Ten Hag considering carefully which players to give a move to with Premier League first-team experience in mind.

Pellistri was wanted by Watford in the Championship last season but ended up staying at United and making 10 appearances in the second half of the campaign. He has previously had two loan spells at Alaves in Spain but his latest short-term deal offers the chance of proving himself in England after arriving in 2020.

United signed him for £9 million from Penarol, where he played under former United striker Diego Forlan. Forlan has recently tipped Pellistri to get more first-team minutes after seeing his potential in their homeland. He has been part of Ten Hag’s squad in pre-season, scoring their final goal against Athletic Bilbao before the campaign started.

Heckingbottom has seen key players leave from his Championship promotion team and his only new signing to start last weekend in their opening weekend defeat to Crystal Palace was Bénie Traoré. Vinicius Souza, Anis Ben Slimane and Yasser Larouci came off the bench. They have also signed Gustavo Hamer and Tom Davies to add competition in midfield.

Quite excited about this one. Would be a statement of intent.

I saw Pellestri play for Penerol before he joined Man U and he looked a class above everybody on the pitch on each occasion...at 18. Not sure he has developed as I expected but he would still be a fantastic addition for us. Will it happen?

I hope this is not not her Khadra and play him in the wrong position.

This may also mean the end to a Mcatee loan.

Thank you 👍

This will mean that we're trying to sign Doyle permanently, if at all

Presuming we're still waiting for McAtee

Not sure how I feel about this. Not sure it's the best fit for the first of the two loan slots. He won't be our priority loan. Seems more like one you sign when your priorities are signed or ruled out

What if we sign him, then McAtee, then Villa decide to loan Archer on deadline day when we can't agree a permanent deal

If we sign Pellistri I'd rather it be after more becomes clear. Maybe it already has

Looks like a Premier league Mark Duffy!

Assume it him OR McAtee, can't imagine we would be in for both.

I hope we are in for both. This lad looks more like the Ndiaye replacement and in any case we need more than one player who can carry the ball and beat a man.

Him and McAtee would add so much.
