Peck

The question is would promotion this season be a season too early for Peck, Seriki, One etc? Maybe also Burrows on that list. I think Arblaster and the way he plays, is already proven to some extent at Premier League.
Let's worry about that if we get there.

Ok I’ll bite. Berge would be first name on the team sheet if he was still at the club. Confusing running round aimlessly with being good at football seems to be a running theme with some of our fans
I liked Sander Berge, he was a class player. He’s as good as he’s going to get, which currently is at a higher level than either Peck or Arblaster.

Like others on this thread I think their ceiling could (in particular in the case of Peck) be ultimately be higher. I think that’s what the giddiness is about.

Fair play

They would all react differently. Arblaster's mentality is exceptional for such a young player, others might crumble.
Peck certainly seems to have the right attitude to make it. He's also got the size and athletic capability; the rest should come with experience. There will be ups and downs, the key with him is the realisation that it's better sometimes to make the easy pass.

Wiki/transfermarkt has him at 1.73m (5'8") but I presume that's out of date? He looks closer to 6' to me.

Yes....it's a season too early for them but sometimes throwing youngsters in to the deep end can work.
Even if they struggle, if they want to be top players, then the experience will be character building and do them good.

Arblaster was thrown in the deep end last season playing in a terrible team losing most weeks and it's not done him any harm.
True, it’s all about their mentality. I think Peck has it. He came back quickly from a poor game against BC. Of the rest I think Seriki has the best chance right now. I just haven’t seen enough of One to have an opinion.

He was our best player at Bristol City until he dipped physically. He was withdrawn at the right time. Everything with him is one or two touch. He also does the other side of the game well. I think he has an hour in him at this level of intensity at this stage.

Think about this lad….just turned 20 years old… and the performances he is putting in at this level as just great. Both him & Arblaster will be comfortably Premier League players in the future and will hold their own. I just hope it is with us. What a fabulous academy we have.

Introducing him and Femi at HT changed the game. We came out flying for the first 10-15 mins of the 2nd half and got the game won.

He would also be Wednesday's best player by an absolute fucking mile!
Seriki is a good ball player, fast, tricky and gives us something different. Sydie showed Banana who was boss. Those two changed the game and to think I was apprehensive when they came on. I like how Wilders using the squad and blooding a future generation of Blades players.

Blaster was really nervous before the game, you could tell in his interview, the pressure and excitement must have been really overpowering for such a young lad, and it showed in his performance.

Hopefully the injury wasn’t too bad.

It's not hyperbolic to say he changed the game. His ability to receive the ball in tight situations and dribble away was just what we needed. Thought first half we missed a Duffy, Ndiaye type and Peck came out and did just that.

As we've said elsewhere, he's an absolute baller!
Worth remembering that some youngsters are already regular first team squad players, and like Arblaster, was on the verge of starting regularly last season, others are coming through now. They are no longer academy products for sale, but filling genuine gaps, because they will be starting soon enough when there is no money for recruitment in January. The rebuild is only half done!

I hope Wilder can use them and develop them as players, instead of investing in potential from elsewhere. At least this way, their strengths and weaknesses can be seen from within.
An unusual situation, for players and manager. I hope it bears fruit for both.

Owls had hope first half because they dropped the pace of the game to a slower level that they are comfortable with.
Wider responded and the team had to go up a gear to leave the owls floundering second half.

Agree. I love how Wilder trusts these young lads in the biggest of games. It says everything about the players and the manager.

I can't wait to see the HSBC developed so we can get Cat 1 academy status.

CW needs to help him out and move the match day captaincy to Souza. He's putting unnecessary pressure on him and Vini would take it in his stride

Just seen that Sydie Peck scored for the England u20’s on Friday night against Germany and got 3 assists in the 4-0 win. Cannot find any highlights whatsoever though. Just wondering if anyone else might have seen any of the action?
Report here

They either didn't rate him whatsoever or have a tidy sell on clause. I think we lost players like Jacob Mellis for much more than that at roughly the same age. Lankshear for 2 million!
Agreed it’s not a big amount, I’m guessing he was out of contract and refused to sign a new one so it’s compensation we paid as opposed to a transfer fee. Still very cheap so Arsenal can’t have been that bothered about going to a tribunal. Apparently he was Wilders last signing before he left first time around.
