Leaving aside the possible change in ownership this summer ,after last season the club needed a reset in terms of its financial and football Outlook.
It was inevitable that was going to include alot of changes , a clear out of legacy wages and a different recruitment policy from knee jerk gambles on players .
Doing that over one summer was always going to tough and we're probably 75% there with a month remaining , we may not get to where we'd want to be but I don't feel resigned to failure as some do.

We bought Berge and Brewster. For what? To be set back into financial ruin 5 years later. Makes chuff all sense.
Is about potential remember, that's why Osulas sale is driving folk to the verge of suicide!!

It think the potential sale of Osula is driving people mad as we've already lost McBurnie, Archer and Jebbison and this would leave us with Moore and Brewster and that's it. Moore is not a consistent goal scorer and who knows what might happen with Brewster. There's seemingly no news on another striker arriving permanently or on loan.

You would think we would learn from our mistakes, last season, by getting business done early. But where is the fun in that. Fly by the seat of your pants, wheeeeeeeeeee

That's all true but I think most of us expected some of the changes to involve plenty of new faces.

We've also cleared out some players because they're on big wages or have poor injury records, and replaced them with players on big wages or poor injury records. So it's not even a different recruitment policy really.

7 says from the start of the season, I think it's clear now (in hindsight admittedly) that at least a couple of those out of contract players should have been retained.

Who are these players “on big wages or poor injury records” we’ve brought in? If you can’t see that O’Hare and Burrows are light years ahead of last season’s recruitment, then there really is no hope.

O'Hare and Shackleton have both struggled with injuries. O'Hare and Moore will be on big wages.

I think O'Hare and Burrows are brilliant signings.

you can feel that transfer windows seem extremely frustrating for hecky & wilder, just from feelings you get the last few years. but we never seem to learn from our mistakes

ive no idea what to expect on Friday & hoping for the best. but if it was ever legally possible i would love to see hecky write a book about his final 15/16 months in charge. as i bet that would be hugely fasinating read

The potential starting eleven looks okay to me, but it's the bench that worries me. 2 or more injuries and we're in serious trouble. We've got to get more bodies in, takeover or not. It's starting to get worrying and back to back relegations could well be a realistic situation if the squad is strengthened soon. The last four summer transfer windows have been absolutely pathetic overall. When it comes to signings players over the summer we are an absolute Mickey Mouse, amateur hour shit show!

It's not just a striker pal, 1000% need a keeper, most important position before Friday!
Defo need 2 strikers, 2 Defenders, 1 RB, thats minimum.

Lack of depth up front is a concern . Uniteds midfield was impressive last night particularly O’Hare . Defensively we are a worry with Anel looking like he would rather be anywhere but at united . I’m keeping my piss below boiling point until all the windows are firmly shut and always believed no takeover would happen until it was shut anyway. Thus avoiding any immediate spending by new owners .
As I said to my mate driving back from HUD , it’s United isn’t it what you expect !

It's August now. 8 days until the season starts. We've made a handful of decent signings but still look extremely weak in a number of areas including GK, Defence (especially CB and RB), Attack (lacking both wingers and a clear partner for Moore . (Moore will be needing crosses from wide men). The squad can be accurately described as paper thin. Does anyone here think we'll get enough recruitment over the line in the next week to make a decent fist of this season?
Now is a much better time to be making this point.

No it cant.
It's no where near as strong as we all would like. We have a fairly strong forward line. Our midfield ,providing we keep Hamer and Arblaster, is definitely competitive and probably as good as any in the championship. Defensively again whilst not being that strong we are capable of performing well enough in this division
We are weak in the keeper position that is true.
So to say' accurately described as paper thin ' is a misnomer.
I suggest a trip to Specsavers

Got an appointment later this month.
Excellent I'm sure that will help you realise that should Osula go we will have hot rid of 17 players and only recruited 5 (maybe 6) if Gilchrist arrives. Also one of the 5, Shackleton is injured presently.
