Well done SUFC, in my lifetime of supporting you there’s been some absolutely shocking decisions. But this takes the biscuit.

I think kids use the phrase “banter club”. Christ, we’ve been masters at that for decades.

Welcome to the Wilderness Years, again.
A manager walks away from the club after winning 4 league games all season. Wilder has made the decision

Literally Wilderness years lol

Sacking a manager with a record of...

That’s an absolutely shocking decision? He was lucky to get to 28 matches!

He’s got the third best win percentage in English football behind Klopp and Guardiola. With Sheffield United.

So we just forget about this season and put it down to a bad day (year?) at the office or bad luck maybe?

Frank Lampard has a better win record than Wilder over his career, does that mean Frank is the better manager?

he doesn't even have the best win % as Sheffield United Manager though.............stats don't tell the whole story mate

So we just forget about 4 years of top class management, 2 promotions, transforming a club that had been in the doldrums for years and stuck in League One to getting them on the verge of Europe on a shoestring and make a decision by using a massive amount of recency bias from an unprecedented period of football played behind closed doors?

I don’t think it’s useful to couch this story as CW v PA, with fans taking sides. I think we can all agree that it’s a confluence of events that nobody wanted. But before we “boycott” let’s remember that, as grateful as we all are to CW, if he can’t stomach the idea of institutional changes that could move the club in the right direction, then he’s NOT the man we need for the long term. The Sir Alex era isn’t tenable anymore. DoFs, or general managers, are standard issue club governance in any other major sport. Say nothing of the fact that we’re talked about with the likes of Derby 08 with our performances this year. Under no circumstances is that acceptable, particularly if you’re the coach, manager, recruiter all in one. It’s your show, it’s your responsibility.

And PA maybe misread the fans and didn’t think this would be such a flashpoint, but he clearly doesn’t know what CW means to supporters. His connection to us, until proven otherwise, is irreplaceable. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but there’s really only one thing we can control - support. Support for the club through thick and thin. If we don’t want to see the blades backslide into obscurity, then now is not the time to walk away. Now is the time to grit our teeth and carry on with the club that most of us can’t walk away from anyway.

No we don’t, but Wilder can’t keep acting like King Dick when the results and performances are beyond shit.

That's the sum total of it. Top post.

Thats exactly what we do.

And if he’s tried to engineer his sacking to take the Celtic job?

( l have no idea if it’s true because we’re still in the dark, but it’s a possibility that’s not even being considered by the “it’s all the boards fault” gang)

I have to wonder what world people live in, who didn’t think Wilder has previously done enough to earn 28 matches.

I find it beyond belief that we’ve got fans who would think in this way.

Thankfully, I don’t know anyone outside social media who does, and that starts to explain things :)

Why not just resign?

Money? The less compo paid by Celtic the more in his pocket? Who knows. All speculation but l’m dressing nothing up as fact or certainty.

Irrespective of anything else, the Celtic job is a big one to turn down. I can’t knock him leaving for that. He’ll have to toe the board line up there though. And the Green Brigade won’t be please with him being English. He’ll have to hit the ground running.

Why not just resign?

because you can't resign and just go to another job. there's at least a notice period to serve out. And I think we'd be due compensation. Didn't Bruce resign from Wednesday before going to Newcastle?

The board didn’t and probably even now still don’t ‘want’ him to leave. They apparently talked him out of resigning in January.

But he has to accept this year hasn’t been good enough and the people who actually finance the club want to structure the club in line with other PL clubs. And if he can’t it’s best we all move on. Simple as that really.

Don't know how many times this needs to be said, but he wasn't sacked
