All very well butbif people transfer from the higher priced areas the club are purely dependent on new regular attendees to increase income.

I had a season ticket on the Kop for many years, then when i hit my late 30s a couple of years ago and with a small child in tow, with my mate we made the decision to move from the Kop to the South Stand, and not regretted since. We get a better view, more leg room and it is hasn't been something anyone has regretted. There is probably a limit to the premium i would pay for the enhanced view and facilities as i suspect there is for many others, some choose to pay it to sit in the better areas of ground, it would depend on many people what they would be willing to pay extra for those facilities.

On the other hand i would also much rather see 27-28k in the ground every week, and the vast expanse of empty seats at the Bramall Lane end filled every week, and if we can do it and bring in the same amount of season ticket revenue as we do now then that can only be a good thing, as it will be more conducive to better results on the pitch, and go a long way to breeding a bigger, more long term fanbase in the future.

Fair comment about the attendances and while I agree I'd guess it's only really achievable in the PL, where discount prices wouldn't be something the club would be interested in.

All I know is that you can watch most Bundesliga teams twice for what you'd pay at a "Catagory A" 3rd division match.

Probably because German fans haven't had it hammered into them that you have to be shafted in order to get decent football.

The facts show time and time again that there's no real appetite for cheap tickets.

For example to club charge £22 and average 20,000.
If we charge £15 we'd average 21,000
If we charged £10 we"'d average 25,000
If we charged £5 we'd average 30,000.

So if SU are to run as a responsible business to ensure the future of the club
It would choose the charge £22 and average 20,000 option

However to test the waters they should do the occasional cheap ticket offer
But when we've charged £10 in the past it attracts about 3,000 extra customers
Which econically proves it's not viable to do it too often.

It would be interesting to know what the retention rate is on these offers i.e. how many fans that come to a cheap game return for normally priced ones. Or how many games you have to get someone through the gate for before they get hooked. It might be the case that some people will attend six games a season at £22, but if you have half a dozen special offers then they simply pick the cheapest half dozen, lessening your returns even more.

Reading currently offer tickets for 10 and season tickets for 135 to 18-24 year olds .
