Out of contract so no fee would be involved.

Scotland international Paul Hartley is wanted by Sheffield United after leaving Celtic at the end of his contract.

Hartley is due for talks with Blades chief Kevin Blackwell this week as he considers his future.

United have slapped a £2.5million price on Matthew Kilgallon's head after he turned down a new contract.

Wigan and Middlesbrough are both chasing the classy defender but could now be put off by the price.

I have no problem with that, always reted Hartley when he was at Heart's.
Not really followed Scot's footy for a year or so though so don't know how he's been playing or even if he has been.

Was good for Hearts, he's getting on a bit now though.

If his wages aren't too high I see no problem with it being a free transfer.

Would he be a Gordon Cowans/Stuart McCall type signing?

Thought he was a good player, but as has been mentioned is getting on a bit now.

He's still a good player imo.

He aint the box to box player he was at hearts, as he's legs are getting on a bit however he is class at working his heart off for the team and keeping the ball easy. He's basically molded into a DM now.

Lets Get Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink too, that would be awesome on the back of your shirt :D

Unless he takes a cut, his wages are too high :)

Looks like he's off to Bristol:

Scotland midfielder Paul Hartley will have a medical on Friday and is expected to complete a move to Bristol City before the weekend.

The 32-year-old's contract with Celtic has expired and Greek side Iraklis Saloniki had also offered him a deal.

Hartley made 36 appearances for Celtic last season and was told by new manager Tony Mowbray he was free to move on.

Hearts were also keen to take Hartley back to Tynecastle, having sold him to Celtic for £1.1m in 2007.

The midfielder, who has 22 Scotland caps, started his career with Hamilton Accies before spells with Millwall, Raith Rovers, Hibernian and St Johnstone.
