Trusty played v well for Birmingham, could it be that now they are cash rich, they could be chasing him?

Sign Dunmett, save the money we'd spend on Burrows and spend it elsewhere - could be the best idea

If we are to play three central defenders as is the norm under Wilder? Can only right footers play the central spot?
We are supposedly playing a new shape, so nice attempt at sarcasm but an epic fail

Can't understand some on here. The guy has played 151 games in premier League, is he really that bad???????
He was never more than a makeweight and hasn't been fit for the last 3 seasons. Didzy's Lazarus-like rise from life's treatment table will always temper my desire to write someone off, but signing Dummett would make me question the whole project.

Once spent a week with Paul Dummets dad on a golf trip . Nice fella. He came through the youth ranks at Newcastle and played every year against the same youth team Harry Maguire was in for the blades. Said no one could believe Harry would ever make it as a pro never mind an international. Probably not a great judge of players but his lads now a seasoned pro with alot of experience and we could do worse .

Didn't realise he was only 32, thought he was at least 34/35 since it feels like he's been around forever.

McCallum is 23, Shackleton 24, O’Hare 26, but yes, “Dad’s Army”.

The ones we’ve signed I’m happy with, some of these links not so much. Don’t wanna be paying money for 32 year old McLean, signing Ritchie and so on. Moore is the only oldie that we need so he is.

Would be good cover for JLT and maybe an option instead of Trusty.
Seems to have good positional sense and looks fairly solid. Should be reliable at Championship level.

Reliable in what sense? There is no doubt that;
  1. He is a moderately capable footballer.
  2. He is incapable of playing two matches in a week.
If we can limit JLTs injuries and suspensions to three days at a time he'll be fine.

As we have Robbo, Trusty and possibly RND as LCB options I’m not clear where he fits in.

We played 4-2-3-1 last game but with one dropping back that can easily look like 4-3-3.

With a midfield 3, you’re just one player away from going from 4-3-3 to 5-3-2.

So I’m not too clear still how we will line up and whether we may be one of those teams that can interchange formation during games two or three times.

1005 days out with injury and 140 games missed over an 8 year period up to 2022. History of hamstring injuries. Only 5 appearances in the last 3 years.

Unless he's being brought into a coaching role the only benefit seems to be testing the strength of the treatment table.

The medical will have to be as good as the one John Ebbrell didn't have all those years ago to pass him fit. One to give a wide berth from a playing perspective imo.

All our current defenders are a bit suspect. Robbo has gone from our worst defender to our best in the space of 12 months, I'm still unconvinced. Trusty was all over the place last season and prior to that played for a struggling Birmingham team, RND is regularly injured.

Although I/ we all love Robbo he was a regular part of the worst defence in Premier League history.

If we are looking for a wise non-playing head for training and morale I'm sure there are fitter and cheaper Jake Wright types lower down the league who we might actually get a run of games out of. That's not to say that I don't like him. He is a decent left footed pro who actually managed a couple of starts last season amid Newcastle's injury crisis. However he'll still be living up here and knowing the drive down to Sheffield only too well I don't think that will help physically.

His record is deceptive, the main quality that supported his ten seasons in the Prem in the Mike Ashley era was that he was cheap. It would be in everyone's interest if he went to Sunderland.

PS Apart from Sunderland;)

Reliable as in if he has to come in for some games to cover injuries and suspensions, he'll do OK.

He's been on £40,000 a week I can't see him accepting less that £20,000. We could get 4 or 5 Sean Morrison's for that I that can't see them offering anything different, other than an acceptable level of fitness.
