Paul Coutts was ill too...

Such a contrast from his first season with us, he looked half arsed when we first signed him! But maybe that was down to him being cautious as he'd been out injured for quite a long time just before he arrived here.

Coutts always had glimpses of a propper footballer in him, my fear was that the serious injury had finished him physically and mentally, he looked to be playing within himself as if he was afraid the first hard tackle would do him in.

He now has confidence in his own fitness he has become one of our most important players.

A lot of credit has to go to our coaching staff but also Coutts himself. He could have just continued to pick up a wage but he's obviously worked hard to get over his problems.

There was an interview with Coutts earlier in the season, I think in the programme, where he talked about only being able to play with injections over the previous two seasons and not being able to train properly. He said the injections made him ill. Players now have to perform because we have good players not in the team. I also think players are not going to drop out for illness as their replacement may then keep them out like Bash is doing to EEL.

From the very start of the tickets meltdown, the club's been proper shithouses at Boltons expense and now even the gaffer's joining in. Brilliant, just shows the mood around the place.

I reckonised coutts was a good player from the beginning not outstanding like he as been . I think it was just down to poor management as well pervious seasons

Coutts reminds me of Gordon Cowans.... pass and move... pass and move... pass and move.
Coutts keeps it simple and plays loads of shot passes to feet, always keeping possesion.

However I think Couuts is a type of player where in a poor team he looks poor because he doesn't do enough.
Now he has 2 equally gifted midfielders next to him (Fleck and Duffy) who are both comfortable on the ball
It's brought Coutts out of his shell and his simple pass and move game is paying dividends

Played like he was ill 1st half with at least 3 misplaced passes that he would normally make. Almost fell over the ball when he was last man as well in his usual dropping too deep and leaving himself exposed manor.
Lot better 2nd half.

Coutts often hits long accurate diagonal passes. Some of you aren't watching...

I ❤ Couttsy. A proper footballer.
That reminds me of a radio summary of a grunters game backing the 90s...

"In the history of English football there has only been a handful of players who could pass the ball over 70 yards with any degree of accuracy. It was evident that none of them were playing at Hillsborough today"

Brilliant.

He was grinning before he'd even been asked the question so knew it was coming

Wilder tries to start every interview with a smile and has done in about 90pc of them. Sometimes it looks forced , sometimes he can't force one even.

Coutts has always been technically sound, that doesn't necessarily translate to being effective. You need the right level of fitness and effort to make that count.

He's probably lacked a little of both due to his bad injury and some uninspirational managers.

Let's hope he can stay on a while and realise his potential. Even previously he wasn't going to do that being stuck out on the right wing.

He's made a very difficult and pivotal position his own, and good luck to the lad!

I reckon Coutts couldn't be arsed to play for Adkins (or us). Naturally he was upset that Clough had been sacked and he was trapped with nowhere to go. I think Maidmarian on here told us Simon Clough said they'd be interested in him in L1 but not the Championship.. Looking at him now perhaps that was a mistake.

The recovery from a long time out due to injury was a factor, but, it was mainly due to him being surrounded by toss-pots who didn't want the ball and being managed by a dick head of a manager who didn't know his arse from his elbow and spoke in riddles and management-speak.

He's always been a good footballer. He hasn't always played well. Some people couldn't tell the difference before. But hopefully now they can.

Hahaha....gotta say I didn't notice that dig when I watched that first time around. There is a definite little in joke and set up to have a dig at Maxine...(Madine is changed to Maxine on auto correct....think it's apt so gonna leave it)

this spot on ,and the comparison with Cowans is a great spot.

Rumour doing the rounds from some pig fans that Madine was attacked as he was getting off the coach by Blades, I reckon it is proper pork talk trying to give the thug an excuse other than he bottled it.
Anyone able to confirm the above is BS?
