very unlikely pairing but i though bamford and cannon looked very interesting in their cameo roles bamford is a mcgoldrick/ sheringham type of striker intelligent and drops off to create space for his strike partner still think campbell and ings looked good as a pairing but these 2 could win us plenty of games fresh off the bench

80’s and 90’s ?

I think you’ll find that Leeds earned the title Dirty in their time under manager Don Revie which was between 1961 and 1974 and rightly so .

Even though they had some of the best players in the country at the time including the likes of Eddie Gray , Johnny Giles , Allan Clarke , Mick Jones etc. they often resorted to to some of the worst football thuggery and referee intimidation I ever witnessed .

One of my favourite non Blades related matches of all time was the 1970 FA Cup Final replay when Chelsea matched them toe to toe in the thuggery department and came out on top . For those who’ve never seen it , it’s well worth a look on You Tube .
Some would go as far as to say, they should chuck all their medals and their pots and pans in the biggest fucking dustbin they can find, because they’ve never won a single thing, without cheating! 👍🏻

That Kung Fu kick from Peter Osgood (I think) on Billy Bremner is a joy to behold.

All of a sudden we look to have four good options we can rotate (Campbell also looks fitter to the baked eye). Impressed again with Cannon's off the ball movement. He's always making those penetrating runs in behind. He and Bamford looked a natural partnership with PB coming short and linking the majority of the time. I don't think we've had as many runs off the ball from a front two all season. Wide areas need work in January

I noticed a spring in Cannon's step earlier and a mischievous glint in his eye. He looked to have gained a new purpose and an extra yard of pace. I've absolutely lambasted him previously but I think that goal at the weekend will have done him a world of good and I for one, am going to give him another chance. Hopefully, he'll kick on from here. Hopefully.

Difference to someone like Moore, is Bamford is more mobile and seems to be actively trying to pick out Cannon rather than just hitting and hoping he will be there when the ball is played.

It certainly appears to have given Tom a spring in his step, his pressing is better, he is making better runs to turn defenders and making decent runs into the box to get on crosses.

Bamford followed up a decent cameo appearance at the weekend with another impressive performance last night.
As said above, and I posted after the pig game. He gives us a different dimension when we attack as he is a clever player who drops deep to pick up the ball and helps link the midfield and attack well.
Dont think he knew too much about the goal but he was alert and managed to get something on it to help it over the line (just).
He makes Cannon look better. Cannon seems to have much more confidence and is making some very good runs.
He puts pressure on Campbell and Ings to up their game as there is now increased competition for places which can only be a good thing.
Hopefully he can stay fit up to January, keep up the good performances and be rewarded with a longer contract.

Good quality movement and definitely adds another dimension to the team and something we have been missing since Billy left close in scruffy goal. Right place Right time

May not be a long term signing for us but you can see that he has the instinct and hunger of a goal getter.

He looked decent to me, you can tell he's a smart player who knows where to be and knows how to make things happen. I think in the 90 odd minutes he's played so far for us, he's already had as many meaningful attempts on goal as Tom Cannon has had in the space of nearly a year.

He finds the spaces, knits things together, has enough of a physical presence that the others lack and is polishing turds like Cannon.

If he carries on in this way then I can't see why we wouldn't keep him on until at least the end of the season or give him an 18 month deal to the end of the next one because unless Wilder works some sort of miracle, the play offs are a long way off. Who else are we getting that's any better for free (wages notwithstanding)?

We gave Moore a 3 year deal at the same age and Bamford is twice the player he is.

He could be the McGoldrick Mk2 that this team has been crying out for.

Totally agree! I'd fall short of calling him McGoldrick MK2 at this early stage, but he offers a significant upgrade on Moore/McPub/Ings....

With him replacing Moore, Riedeweld replacing Souza and Tanganga replacing Anel - I think we're finally back to where we were last season...

yes bamford has given us something a bit different up front but its no coincidence that weve picked up since weve abandoned this 4231 set up and gone with 2 up top mind still think chris will want to bring a target man type of striker in this january with one going out on loan i reckon bindon barry and godfrey will be released in january with 3 good quality players coming in possibly 3 premier league loans january is a good month for loans from the prem

I'd actually argue we are stronger in 2/3 of those areas. Tanganga is a worthy replacement of Anel. I wouldn't call him an upgrade, but certainly not a downgrade.

Bamford/Ings/Campbell/Cannon gives us a good variety of options. The only missing link would be an out and out target man - maybe Oné could fill that role - but I'd imagine this will be a high priority signing for the JTW.

The area we are undeniably weaker in is the role Souza filled. Riedwald isn't fully fit yet so it wouldn't be fair to say for sure he's inferior to Souza. Matos and Soumare are clearly not at that level yet, but have age on their side, Riedwald, as said, isn't yet fully fit

Let's be clear, this is not a bad squad. We have a strong championship squad with plenty of options when everyone is fit.

A target man, RB and CDM would be my priorities, and I assume they will be for CW.

I was watching Bamford closely and he was constantly moving and showing to receive the ball which opens up so many options for moving up the pitch and the creation of opportunities.

Clever player and will get a few goals as well
Yes his movement off the ball is great. Last night I thought it really showed up how static everyone else is when we don't have the ball. Surely it's not that difficult to just look around and move into space? I know some are better at it than others but when no one makes an effort it leads to really static attacks that just peter out.

Shipping out dross like Godfrey, Bindon, Barry and maybe Ogbene would be a decent start to making this happen.

We've got players who can play CDM but lads like Matos, Shackleton

Probably a few others who we could show the door to as well.

I really hope Cannon gets better and he's definitely shown signs of it. But then we'll have that weird thing from the player, the manager and other fans: "They savagely criticised him and look at him go. Not saying that now are they?!"

Well no. We legitimately criticised him when he did badly. We will legitimately praise him if he does well. It's not difficult.
