Most of the delay is down to greedy agents and players seeing what the best deals they can get from clubs. Most clubs are having to watch what they spend and it's no different with United.
Good to see we're not going to be ready for the start of pre-season.
Set of absolute clowns.
Nearly a month gone, fixtures out in less than three weeks and we can't even nail down the signature of a freebie from Barnsley.
Sadly, I imagine that was said pretty much word for word last summer. And it was bollocks.
Well last year, we didnt have all the play-off period to secure new players and that screwed us up.... didnt it?
Have I missed the mass movement of players elsewhere in our division?
Since we realised we weren't making the play-offs last season, all the noises from the Club suggested it was because we were in the play-offs and it meant we couldn't do any deals before they had finished. Now, I'm not saying I'm getting worried about the lack of movement, but I can understand why people would be concerned after saying it would be much different this time round.
The most concerning thing for me is that potentially three players have already turned us down (Williams, Mackie, Ward) with Bogdanovic possibly doing the same.
No movement and there never is at this time of the year but always the same old negativity. yes we need players and I am sure that they will come but don't let this confuse the more simple minded.
Notice how supremo TB mentions 5 players we're in talks with and yet not one of them is Paddy!
Strangely enough, this mornings rags are now mentioning our interest in Simmonsen
However, to counter that, BM poster knows Paddy and has been out socially with him and says that Paddy said how can he leave the Blades after all they've done for me? Well we all know money talks, but at least I find that encouraging. Wonder if the board feel the same way? Simmonsen to replace Paddy and £900k in the bank? Small matter of wages, but if Simmonsen is serious about wanting to play games.................................well you never know?
I will be gutted tho if Paddy does leave. Equally, witnessing the potential systematic dismantling of the squad, particularly when we don't have a squad, is really disheartening.
Anyone laying odds on Monty? Rumours are he's turned down a third and final offer
Fingers crossed!
I thought the statement from the Lane was about what you'd expect to hear in late May - and the posts on here to be unfair at this time (They'd be fairer in late June)
How can people get wound up about common sense statements such as -
"(we) are aware and realistic that some players won't declare their hands until they have looked at all their options"
and -
"continuing negotiations with those whose Lane contracts are about to expire"
or -
"there are plenty of discussions going on behind the scenes"
All of this seems just what you'd expect.
The club is holding talks with targetted players, who may well be talking to other clubs too - and who will make a decision for themselves after they've considered all their options. In the meantime the club are working to secure contracts for those (soon to be) out of contract players at the Lane who we haven't released.
What more (in the real world) would you expect them to say? Maybe -
"We've already signed all our targetted players by offering far more money that any other club (and lets look forward to adminstration and ten points deducted next season)"
or -
Let's give you a blow by blow account of each of the discussions we're having (so every other club knows where we're at - and is therefore better positioned to sign our targetted players)
You lot need to either get yourselves on the board if you really feel you have to know more - or more realistically, just relax - let events run their course, and enjoy the summer.

"How I learned to stop worrying and love the Blades".
Yeeha!

Or to put it another way - "How I learned to get a life - not worry about things I can't change, and concentrate on more important things that happen in the real world"![]()
