New comer. Be gentle.

Can't see us threatening this or even next season. Massive rebuilding. Still have so much crap - Cresswell, Monty, Doyle, Boggy, Evans, Simo, Collins, Taylor; youngsters not ready, some are 'hit or miss' development players, the others Williamson, Lowton, Quinn might move on; it will take Wilson time to get in his own players, in doing this, he will get a lot wrong before he get's most right. Three years before we are serious contenders?

Messrs Blackwell, Adams & MacKnife to be blamed, but that's old money now.

Regrettably patience is required, can't keep changing managers, got to hope this one has a bit more 'quality' not to buy shit like Henderson et al. Won't be easy, not least as Wendies will get promoted before us 'cos of the deep pockets of their chairman, there will also be some embarrassing 0-4's away at Tranmere. Lets hope the strategy of breeding and buying good young 'uns with the occasional hiccup of selling a few, eventually pays dividends. We have been short of quality for years, almost decades, can only hope there is some truth in the phrase 'got to go back, before you can go forward'!

Bollocks, we will piss it.....champiooooooonis, champiooooonis................................oh, wait

Welcome. A promising start indeed.

I don't understand the fuss about The Pigs. They were humiliated on a regular basis last season. What's changed? Don't be fooled by Mandy. He's an attention seeking charlatan. There'll be no big spending at The Piggery. They may have to rely on their promising youngsters! :)

We're going to be the next Norwich.

Looking forward to a 7-1 defeat at Oldham on Saturday to get things moving.

I'm pretty sceptical about our chances this season. Think we're relying too much on youngsters and development players. Could throw seven or eight names into the hat who might be in with a good chance of at least being in the first team squad. Usually you'd be lucky to get a couple who would be good enough. Youngsters apart we're still short at centre half, left back and goalkeeper. Depending on who's left by 1 September a midfield with Monty, Willo and Quinn in would be too good at this level. Probably got a few decent options up front although will be interesting to see how Porter goes.

If we can get off to a good start who knows, but that defence still worries me.

The problem with that ofcourse, if we are to follow the same patter, it means Paul Dickov will be our new manager in a fortnight :S For once, i think I'd rather have Wilson!

Welcome back Len ;)

Good post Putney. Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you at a London Blades meeting for a beer at some point.

I think this season (at least) is a transition season. Wilson has had his hands tied and we have not seen the clear out we were hoping for. I am hoping for more of a quiet revolution. By this I mean a gradual progression from hoof to football, directness to tippy tappy and has/never been's to youth and athleticism. Unfortunately we have ot been able to shift many of the overpaid failures and it will take time to lose the likes of Cresswell, Evans and even Monty and Quinn.

The important thing for me (and many Blades - as we have discussed on here) is that Wilson shows the right signs. I am willing to be patient, and I think many fans are in the same boat, if he shows the right signals. By this I mean: attempting to clear out the junk (and replacing them with better players), bringing in pacey, athletic or skilled footballers, a change of style, positive attacking football, using youth and trying to develop the development/academy players and getting some positive results. I will be willing to give him at least another year if he shows some of the above. I would love us to get promoted, but I think we will be a 3rd tier team for at least two seasons.

In essence guys, you're right! Whilst I do not have any faith in Wilson (due to his track record as a manager, nothing to do with his connections at S6) he lacks charisma, bleating on already about the player situation etc etc things have got to change
We will not succeed with the likes of Cresswell, Evans, Collins, Doyle, Montgomery - Simonsen has already proved what Everton and Stoke found out (is that he is not very good) and the youngsters face an uphill battle making up for that lot with youthful enthusiasm and inexperience!!!
Lets face it McCabe is the reason we are where we are! He is still at the helm He has told lies after lies at forums and to the press and media but he is still there
That is the reason for the doom and gloom

Oldham for instance are having to go down the youth route , their oldest player is Zonder Diamond at 26 and the average is is under 22
we have problems
but we are not alone
Wednesday have no 8 9 or 10 with 48 hours to go , and some idiots have them as favourites, based on what, I have no idea
We should realise by some standards we are living the dream , even with our problems

Hope i'm wrong but it's very difficult for such an unstable club to get relegated.

We are still in a fire sale scenario - something akin to administration but without an end in sight.

If the youngsters do the business - which is asking a lot this season - then at least one and possibly two will be sold in January if the price is anywhere near right.

I'm not entirely sure what the point of producing the Kyles and possibly Slew was/is. The club has made it clear good young players will be sold sooner rather than later (forget contracts) and that the money raised disappears into the financial black hole.

Similarly the likes of Quinn and Monty etc may go on the last day of this or the next transfer window and shaft the manager into more last minute loans.

Our best hope is that nobody wants our players and we sit quietly in the top half till the January transfer window closes before storming into the automatic places with a late run.

Which club in their right mind would wish to buy any of our Overpaid, Under Talented, Lazy bunch of sh!te we are trying to get rid of ?????

Our best hope us that some idiotic manager (there are a few) is daft enough to want the complete liabilities who have been right at the heart of our downfall. Unfortunately we are paying them such ridiculous money that it would take a special kind of idiot.

Sadly, the former semi-pro, non-league, reserve keeper is still out of work and Port Vale are skint.

Top Post that man !!!

All good and welcome. Have to take issue with this point however. MacKnife as you call him is 100% to blame for this. Blackwell got us one game from the Premiership and that was in the midst of having the plug pulled on him mid-season. Adams as poor as he was came in with the damage already done. Speed can be thrown in for good measure but never stood a chance either. Wilson is on the same slippery slope if he isn't careful (excuses about why we can't sign players are already abound). You can see the car crash coming but unfortunately McCabe has already cut the brake cable and nicked off with the pedal.

Needed one of our OUTLBOS to take a pay cut though.

Bit like saying " I fancy a shit sandwich" if you haven't eaten for a week isn't it?

RAPFA will do whatever it can to help re-house any of our hapless OUTLBOS. Our stretch limo has a full tank and is positioned close to the M1 Northbound. The champagne is chilled and dancing girls on stand-by.

Still a few spare seats if you're interested; Ched? Michael? Neill?
