Pathway to the Playoffs

This is like reading the Norwich forum
To be clear I don't think we will. But, the point is, we are going to have to go on such an incredible run (which we likely won't), that the teams a few points ahead of us are unlikely to be the concern. It is the teams 5, 9 and 12 points ahead of us who will have to drop enough points for us to catch them, which I also don't think they will.

Most had WBA down as a home win. Failure to take 3 points on Saturday means that we must win our next two games to take 6 points from this run of three games. Do that and it's back on. Anything less and the pathway to the playoffs has reached a dead end.

Wilder. Great against sides lower than us, appalling against sides higher than us. Fine when we’re 2nd, a problem when we’re 13th.

We've won more games this season against teams above us than below us.

We must have because we didn't even get out of the bottom three until November.

😅😅

A good point well made.

Oxford (A, 1-0): we were 24th, they were 20th (4 above). Now 23rd
Watford (H, 1-0): we were 24th, they were 11th (13 above). Now 9th
Blackburn (A, 3-1): we were 23rd, they were 22nd (1 above). Now 20th
Wednesday (A, 3-0): we were 22nd, they were 24th (2 below). Now 24th
Portsmouth (H, 3-0): we were 22nd, they were 19th (3 above). Now 19th
Leicester (A, 3-2): we were 21st, they were 15th (6 above). Now 22nd
Stoke (H, 4-0): we were 19th, they were 4th (15 above). Now 15th
Birmingham (H, 3-0): we were 19th, they were 13th (6 above). Now 12th
Stoke (A, 2-1): we were 19th, they were 10th (9 above). Now 15th
Leicester (H, 3-1): we were 17th, they were 12th (5 above). Now 22nd
Ipswich (H, 3-1): we were 13th, they were 3rd (14 above). Now 4th
Oxford (H, 3-1): we were 17th, they were 23rd (6 below). Now 23rd
Portsmouth (A, 1-0): we were 17th, they were 21st (4 below). Now 19th
Wednesday (H, 2-1): we were 15th, they were 24th (9 below). Now 24th
QPR (A, 2-0): we were 16th, they were 14th (2 above). Now 16th

At the time:
Top 2: 0 wins
Top 6: 2 wins
Top 8: 2 wins
Top 12: 4 wins
Bottom 12: 11 wins
Bottom 8: 7 wins
Bottom 3: 4 wins

Now:
Top 2: W0 D0 L4 (0ppg)
3rd-6th: W1 D1 L4 (0.7 ppg)
7th-12th: W2 D0 L4 (1.0 ppg)
13th-21st: W6 D3 L5 (1.5 ppg)
22nd-24th: W6 D0 L0 (3 ppg)

Most of the sides were above us at the start of the relevant round of matches. However, come the end of the season, that will have coagulated and we will have beaten one of the top 6 teams (Ipswich) and the vast majority of our wins will have come against sides in the bottom half.

Yep beat Norwich and we are a mere five points off the play-offs. Can't see it but you never know.

Almost as unlikely is a win at Birmingham but if we somehow managed to take six points from the next two games we'd be seen as bona-fide play-off contenders.

Why what's he done wrong since he came in for Cooper.
He's a thoroughly dreadful goalkeeper in all respects. He did make one good save against West Brom, but his shot stopping in general is terrible (for recent reference, see FA Cup v Mansfield and many others), his distribution is awful, and he sticks to his own line like his life depends on it. He has absolutely no strengths at all.

You can make all the excuses for him you like but most people can see with their own eyes just how bad he is. He'll cost us in a few games before the season ends and it was negligence by the club not to replace him in January.

Not much actually. Only two games though. Did go walkabout at QPR but got away with it. We all know he doesn't do the miracle saves that Cooper is capable of - but Davies has admittedly been fairly solid so far. Think his distribution has improved

Wrexham have key injuries at the worst possible time. Derby look strong tbh. Beat Derby and Wrexham in the hth games and have otherwise excellent form and it's doable. Next three are massive. Win all three and everyone above us who we have a slight chance of catching will be rocking. Big ask but not impossible.

That would rule him out of the game at BDTBL (21st March). When I've seen Wrexham Moore has been huge for them. The 120 mins plus pens against Chelsea won't have helped them tonight and the fatigue factor will hopefully spill over into their other games.

Southampton are still in the FA Cup, the quarter finals are scheduled for the Easter weekend so Southampton will have to re-arrange the league fixtures that were scheduled for Good Friday and Easter Monday.

clutching at straws, is this what we have come down to? wilder has done his job, just accept and move on to next season..............whatever the division

Having Moore out is a big miss for them. He’s awkward and difficult to play against and not easy to replace.

I thought they’d get a result yesterday. I definitely have them down as dropping points the last two games against Coventry and Boro.

We simply have to beat them at home.

Beat them and then see them lose their last two and their maximum points total is still 78.

Ours is only 79 if we win all 10!

They have a Welsh derby against Swansea, have Southampton still to play and Watford away.

Still lots of football to play.

Getting to the stage where no easy games to play. Difficult to see much more than a Saints win vs West Brom though as I think it’s harder to park the bus at home and that may leave openings. Saints have won 5 of their last 6. Main hope is fixtures catch up with them, like it looks like is happening with Wrexham.

At least we’ll have Kalvin Phillips back. Oh no, wait 🤦‍♂️

Imagine we’d got him and Riedewald to call on.

We did well with Riedewald and I think we’ll have more chance against teams who are lesser but will play a more open game than WBA.

Imagine if we had a fully fit T.Davies & K.Phillips for the run in to rotate and fight against Riedewald & Peck for the starting positions.

Either way I think we are way to inconsistent and too many injuries to key players (along with others not being fully fit) to make the play offs, we are particularly too weak at the back as well.

Happy to be in the mix and with anything above 10th also avoiding relegation after what looked nailed on in first 1/4 of the season, still going to be disappointed overall due to nature of the season and with it being a good chance in going up missed (without trying to contradict myself).

Anything else is a bonus to me.
