If our last five home games against Carlisle are anything to go by, today's match isn't going to be a classic. Since 1985 the matches have finished 0-0, 1-0, 1-0, 0-0 and 1-0.
The last game in 2014 featured three of England's Euro 2020 squad; Harry Maguire, Conor Cody and Jordan Pickford.
My only other memory of playing them is Barry Robson wasting so much time taking a corner, when the score was nil nil, that the ref blew for half time.

Friday 13th March 1970 (played on Friday night because of the FA Cup semi final being played at S6 in next day), I missed the game because I was recovering from flu. Woody scored the only goal . We were 2nd top of the table with 8 games left but we lost the next 4 games.

That was the first match I went to with my Dad. (My first game was in 1967 against Man City when I went with my oldest brother).
We sat in the Upper Bramall End stand. As I recall it was a cold night and I sampled my first taste of Bovril.
From that night I was hooked (on the Blades, not Bovril!)

October 1970. Blades 2 - 2 Carlisle. My first ever game.

Sat in BLUT and they played in pale blue shirts with an orange and white hoop.

Don't remember too much more about it, but that's where a life a frustration and disappointment began (peppered with the odd bit of joy - just to flag up how frustrating the rest is!)

yes we were in a great position that season and blew it

I went to an away match at Carlisle back in the 60s I think.

We were corralled in an open corner under a floodlight and it I seem to remember it pissed it down.

No idea what the score was.

3-0 tonight with a Brewster goal to boot.... Well hopefully

We went to Carlisle a few years back for the Boxing Day game. Snow all the way across the A66 and back - and lost 1-0 late on.

The most memorable part of the day was in the (only?) pub before the game and asking their fans who their local rivalry was. I kind of expected Darlington maybe or even Gretna - but its Preston apparently. They were really proud that they took over 500 to their last away derby. Bless em 🙂.

Still got the prog - well played!

I remember the end of that season better than the Carlisle game. The big night game against Cardiff (that their fans still hate us for) and watching the last game against Watford crushed against the white railings at the front of BL pitchside.

Been a lot of water under the bridge since then eh Sitwell?

Probably makes sense
Next place straight down M6
Oops forgot Lancaster

My least favourite game (excluding play off finals and games against the pigs) was the 1-0 defeat away at Carlisle sometime in the 1980s. Their goal came from an indirect freekick after John Burridge carried the ball for more than six steps.

Free kicks were never given for that (much like the supposed six second rule now). Lord knows why the ref chose to apply it that day.

Yep ,and I wouldnt swap it any other club. Same as you I cant recall anything about the game except the steepness of the first time on the BLUT and dew drop on my grandads nose ,the Cardiff and Watford games are much easier to recall.
My biggest recollection from Carlisle away is walking across that grassland from the train to the ground and one of my mates got shot in the leg by someone with an air rifle from the estate , the coppers couldnt care less ,our fault for going to a match 🙄 We never seem to do well against them.

Not only is our record not too good, but one constant (as pointed out in the OP) is that every game we seem to play against them is really boring. Awful 0-0s (the 1985 and 2013 games at the Lane were terrible) and even the 1-0s were bad: we got booed off after beating them in 1986 at the Lane on New Years Day.

One of the worst away trips not for the distance, but the sheer desolation of the place
Lost 1-0 on first trip , supporters club used to ask you for a MOM , after games , none of em was my response
And 0-3 win in I think 🤔 Martin peters reign and first game of season

Another 1-0 result to add to the list.

My first ever game was the following match, a 2-0 win at home to Chesterfield.
