I find it particularly useful to have someone in the passenger seat or even someone extra in the back seat saying, "can you get in there?, how about there?, he's got in there look, there's a space! Oh no its someone's drive, what about there?" etc etc

Just park in front of someone empty drive right by the ground. It's what I do. It's not illegal. You can even park on it and they cant prevent you leaving.
