... I've read elsewhere that some people are choosing not to go to the Palace match for various reasons instead, choosing to watch the match in the pub.

Which is fair enough, the game is hardly likely to be a classic. I'm personally choosing to ride out the match with enough beer, spirits and parkin as I can humanly consume before 5pm.

But I'm wondering what exactly calling this a "protest" is going to achieve when, as season ticket holders, they'll be automatically counted as attending the game anyway. It's a bit weak as far as grand gestures go... buggering off to the pub.

How about the returning of season tickets if individuals are that unhappy?

Car park sit-in?

Human chain around the ground to stop people getting in?

Kids these days... wouldn't know a bloody protest if it smacked them in the gob :D

What exactly are they going to be protesting against anyway? Speed? McCabe? Mrs Blackwell's pies?

Protests don't work unless they've got focus, so what's the focus of this protest?

Why not adopt a French style protest and turn their backs to the pitch for 10 minutes at kick off?

I can't for the life of me remember which club it was that did it.

No problem with people not going. Always said that if you feel like you're not getting your money's worth, it's the only logical choice.

But when you've got a season ticket but just fancy watching the match in a nice warm boozer with some ale, I don't think you can justifiably call it a protest as this suggests some kind of hardship, sacrifice or endangerment :)

Rosa Parks, Ghandi or Emmeline Pankhurst it is not.

This come from bladesmad by any chance?

What the fuck are they even protesting about?

Isn't the first one a Bond Villain(ess)?

United being shit I think.

In which case, we should've been protesting for the majority of the last 120 years.

They are protesting against the lack of backing the board are giving to Gary Speed. He now has another injury problem and they are telling him there's no funds left to bring in replacements.

I believe it's a protest about the Board not the Manager this time.

I won't be there mind, I've got a date with a few pint glasses and a date with a curry post match :D Anyone up for it, Shapla, post Palace, meet up in Moor Foot?

Boycotting the club at this point is a wank idea. The club need our support, not protests. They need to get their act together and show real commitment in the next transfer window. I think the fans should stick with it until at least that point.

I'm stopping in town after the Palace game. Might make the moor-foot but there might be too many of us to persuade.

Unless the policy has changed this season, the attendance reflects who has turned up...if a season ticket holder doesn't turn they won't be counted.

Therefore if less than 10000 turn up for the Palace game, this would be quite an effective protest(Celtic fans did somethng similar approx 15 years ago when they were protesting against their Board)

Any tickets allocated will be counted. SUFC didn't used to do it this way and were one of the very last to adopt it, but you'll find the clubs across the football league announce tickets allocated, not bodies through the gates.

If season ticket holders decide not to come en-masse... it will be noticed, but not in the annouced attendance figures I'd think.

Nope, all tickets are counted.

EDIT: Foxy beat me to it :)

The Palace game is an ideal opportunity to embarass (sp?) McCabe, but I doubt he will give a flying fuck.

Go, dont go, who cares really, but tell me, what convinces you McCabe is gonna spend money in January, as soon as Robbo went he has been selling off and collecting in.

By the same token, what suggests that spending the evening on London Road instead of in the Lane will change his mind?

The point of the thread is that if people want to make a point, make it properly.

Send their STs back with a letter explaining why. Stand in the car-park throughout the match. Engage the board in debate by attending AGMs or even just popping your grievances in a letter.

Being a keyboard warrior is the easiest thing in the world. And people can place all the significance they like in choosing to sit in the pub. But if they want to make a difference, I think they need a better plan.

I will thanks Worksop, but appreciate your permission all the same :D

Why will any of those change his mind anymore than sitting in a pub Linz?

Nothing convinces me that he will. But at no time since McCabe came has investment been so critical, and not actually that much to avoid relegation. If they don't show any willingness to avoid this then they'll get what they deserve.

Up until that point, fans could get out of the malaise that's swept us all up and make BDTBL a frightening place to come. I'd love the idea of supporting the team to become fashionable again.

Because they are Linz`s Plan .... and BIFF will be along as well, fully firetested I would imagine ....

I must admit it, if it is gonna be a protest then its going to be no real hardship for me. All it will mean is that i will remain in licensed premises getting scudded, rather than breaking off from licensed premises, to spend 2 hours getting cold and watching another shit performance.

Mind you, i'll probably be in licensed premises before the match before deciding to go to the match after all.

Anyone know which Pubs are having Flag Day too?

Here is a man with a Plan, make sure its a Pub with Sky and there is no way you will make it to the Game.

Dont forget Sky have paid the club a six figure sum to transmit the Game to said Pub, so in a way you have paid, through Beer, to watch the Game and Support the Blades.

And an added Bonus is you wont even remember the Game, Bang On

Support your team, get pissed, have a curry.

Just sounds better than;

Get pissed and have a curry.

:D

Maybe, Maybe Not, you see this way, all the Moaning Gits who expect sumat for the Hard Earned Cash wont be at the Game moaning, jeering and abusing Players.

Those at the Palace Game will be Real Blades, Real Supporters, waving their Authorised Flags, and I am sure it will make all the difference
