Palace boycott...

I'm hoping to go to the game as well. I've got no interest in boycotts tbh - its the last thing we need atm. Besides, what would a boycott achieve anyway? Nothing.

That, three points, and some of Linz's parkin please. Tidy. :)

Well I'll defiantly be there, Bottom of the table clash, a real 6 pointer :D could be a cracker.

Sorry all Im off to the game with my son and my other son home from uni for weekend and taking his palace mate as a guest.

I'm going to the game, say what you like asI don't really care, these half baked protests won't even be noticed by McCabe

You can all keep your beady eyes off :D

My 5 year old is boycotting it as he didn't want to witness Micalijo drinking multiple jaegerbombs after the game. I wonder how much red bull it would take to cheer him up?

:nana:

I'll be spending the day watching proper football, Derbyshire Cup 1st Round - Dronfield Town FC v South Normanton Athletic.

A game played out by those who play it for the point of playing it. It'll have passion, comittment, end to end attractive attacking football and maybe even a penalty shootout.

And i'll be home with change from a fiver having paid for entry, a programme, a bag of crisps and a brew - safe in the knowledge that my money will be going some way to supporting a football club and not filling the coffers of whatever venture SUFC are pouring money into this week.

Non League football is the future. If you really want to give United a miss then use the time to support your 'real' local clubs.

Perhaps we could set a non-league club ourselves. We could be called FC United of Sheffield and play in red and white stripes. We could all say how we were born Sheffield United fans and would die Sheffield United fans, it's just we don't want to watch them any more. We could say constantly changing kick off times have ruined football and how we'd never change from Saturday kick-offs at 3pm (of course, we'd scrap that rule as soon as the TV men came knocking with a few quid). We could say we were a club for families and then invade pitches at away games and sing about people dying.

(Presty - I know you said 'real' local club and the one I've picked on aren't a real club. It was just a nice lead in for a rant)

United are my real local club!

I'll be going, and I won't be booing. Though I'll probably shouting "Oh for fuck's sake Ward/Evans" quite a bit.

I've boycotted every game this season - but I hear it's a tenner for the Palace game (and they've given me more than one hour's notice of the offer this time!) so it's the first game I won't be boycotting - provided I can negotiate the online ticketing system which usually defeats me.

United and football is falling apart and has been on the road to ruin for years now and is simply not the game I fell in love with 35 years ago.

It seems more fans of many clubs are starting to feel this way - where there used to be passion now there is apathy. The footballing powers (and McCabe for that matter) will not act to change things out of sentiment for us but they will once they realise money is staying away from the game. The question is whether they are really listening and whether they will leave it too late to turn things round.

I think we should turn up in numbers with a fire tested flag to thank the Palace fans who travel, for what they did at the sty last game of the season.

I'll be boycotting it on the basis that we are ( and have been for a while ) shit to watch.

i'd rather spend a tenner in the bookies then let jeff stelling tell me all my bets are down the pan ( again! )

I'll be there full of optimistic joy, because you never know.

You never know!

>United being shit I think
heh.. they've not being paying attention for the last 50 years then.. is maccabe still alive.. i reckon a 'message to the fans' type thing would go a long way at the moment to restoring a bit of faith in the team management

... I'm personally choosing to ride out the match with enough beer, spirits and parkin as I can humanly consume before 5pm.

I'll bet that's the only decent thing with a ginger content that you will witness on Saturday.

Do you make it yourself or buy it from Rose's?

I got this batch from Jack Fultons :D

I fear I will need to purchase more before Saturday though.

You know where the donations button is guys :D

Excuse me, but what relevance does the majority of the content of this thread have to do with The Blades?

Tut, tut Linz - I think you will need to move this one as well. ;)

BTW. Do Fulton's put enough nutmeg in theirs? I find that the one from Rose's is very fine and I have the last piece to have with a cup o' T this afternoon, following my last visit to Sheff a couple of weeks back. Their Wheaten loaf is also particularly fine- my teens call it "Sheffield Bread"

This is so much more intersting than constantly being depressed about the A-holes that wear stripes at the weekend.

You can go to the naughty corner you know ;) There is space next to Silverfox and beighton :D

I bought two from Fultons... made by a bakery in Barnsley. The first one I had was a bit stickier than the second (more treacle I assume) but both have been very nice with that lovely gingery kick to them.

Certainly am :) Madrid v Bilbao on the Sunday evening. Ticket costing me €14! I might go every week!

Great stuff - it's a superb place. I went last month for a gig, but footy-wise only did the stadium tour as it was international week.

Will definitely go back for a game though. EasyJet flights, a cheap and easy Metro to get around, cheap footy tickets.... Happy days!

heh chill mate.:D linz is admin.. she can do what the hell she likes.. suck it up:hello:

Nothing convinces me that he will. But at no time since McCabe came has investment been so critical, and not actually that much to avoid relegation. If they don't show any willingness to avoid this then they'll get what they deserve.

Up until that point, fans could get out of the malaise that's swept us all up and make BDTBL a frightening place to come. I'd love the idea of supporting the team to become fashionable again.

UTB

It's not really a team though is it Alco. I love the club, support the club financially, love the badge etc etc and love Bramall lane and all the memories and that will not change whatever tier we are in. In contrast I have literally no connection with the current crop of players and no matter how hard I try I find it impossible not to laugh and ridicule their attempts to play football and openly slate em as happened at the end of the Ipswich game. In addition I have total contempt for the chairman and all in all it is impossible to truly support the team in the way I think you mean - ie encouragement when making mistakes, no booing. Too much water under bridge with McCabe and his mistakes to suddenly get a situation where the atmosphere is positive. Maybe this will change in April when we are even more desperate for points but at the moment no chance.

Mic - forget about the bassoon, you've just expressed my current state of mind with them better than I ever could.

I guess I'm just one of those want it now kind guys....

Just a personal fave if you're craving a Steak or a Pizza at around 3am

Cheers for this :) It's a place I've never been and can't wait for the game at the Bernabau.

And sorry for turning this into the Holiday Thread ;)

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought that Linz had been honoured but she was refusing to collect her gong from that nice Mrs Liz old lady....

Unfortunately I won't be attending the game as I will be away but I couldn't force my season ticket on anyone. None of my non-season ticket holding chums were bothered so in the end I just left it with a mate to do with how he pleases. A sad sign of the times...

I hope that we give Darren Ambrose the terrific reception he deserves following THAT goal last May...

Hmm, had been planning to go up to that game for my first match in a while, didn't even realise it was now on tv till I saw this thread! May not go up after all now. :-(

I'll be on a stag do. With a bit of luck they'll have a telly on somewhere.
