One thing missing from the last few seasons is pace, somehow Clough, Adkins and so far Wilder seem to think pace (especially out wide/up front) isn't important. We need chalk on your boots wingers flying down the touchline, not workmanlike wingers like Duffy, Flynn etc.

That's why we looked better when Scougs came on. At least he's quick and direct when dribbling with the ball. I'd start him next game, probably in place of Basham. For all that we would lack height in midfield, we now at least make up for it by having a tall back four and Clarke up front.

Chapman looks fast. Wasn't effective today, but wouldn't be fair to judge him after half an hour.

I'd start Chapman next game. Made a few mistakes, but when he got the ball he was always looking to run at them. Something we don't have from anyone else

Really? Scougall? I thought he added nothing to the game. Same at Bolton. Little boy lost up against men. He's had his chance here - let him go back to Scotland where he can look good.

As I said, I don't see him as our saviour, but out of the squad we have, which is still be shit, let's not dance around that, he is one of the more technically able and quick players.

I do agree that he is not a winger and was dumbfounded when I saw he was coming on to play wide right. Wilder should have taken Basham off.

But what if those players don't fit your style? What if previous success comes from workmanlike wingers?

We don't necessarily need out and out fast players like Littlejohn and Kabba, but we do need players to move the ball quickly... which we've not had for a few years

Bringing Scougall on for Duffy to play wide right (twice) is possibly the most baffling thing Wilder's done so far.

Even a below par Duffy's more useful than Scougall on the wing.

It was a crazy substitution, Duffy was just having his best spell of the game, had just produced the cross of the game for Clarke and then off he went for the absolute no mark that is Scougall who brought nothing to the game.

If Adkins had made that change he would be getting castigated for it.

Is that first paragraph about Scougall? If he is one of our most technically able and quick players we are genuinely fucked, fucked to the point where we should all start researching league two grounds!
