Was the difference last night, (as well as the schoolboy defending for the first 3)....Fulham had it in abundance and we didn't...we just don't have that outlet and for me we desperately need it, (and have done for the last 2 years!)...Billy can hold it up but by the time Leon is up there so is half of the oppositions defence....Billy has never been blessed with pace and in a one on one he will be beaten every time.

Leon is deceptive...he has got a burst of speed but that's it...he can't pick a ball up just in their half from a clearance, knock it past the full-back and skin him.....Fulham were doing that with consummate ease last night.

Pace was the only thing we lacked last season but we got away with it.....pace was what we needed to bring in during the summer.....we didn't....and pace is what we desperately need now. Forget about the Coutts situation, get a pacey forward in who will drag the opposition out and the midfield will take care of itself, whoever is in it.

And as for who makes way.....well we either switch to a 4-4-2 and play 2 wide men or if CW insists on sticking with the 3-5-2, (which we know works) then it's possibly time for Billy to become an impact sub....

we have not needed to rely on Pace with a midfield that can control and move the ball with out the need for a player to move the ball at feet, however with one of the main parts of the engine missing, it becomes about how to change and adapt with out him, how we can play to the strengths we now have.

I don't think pace is everything we have shown that last season and the start of this, what CW and AK will be working on is a way to fit what we have in to the right package to best suit the bodies we have, we showed last night we can still create and score goals which is a big plus, on the down side the midfield lacked its usual bite, and the defence was sloppy at times but again could be the absence of a really good player, who is the perfect out ball to play.

I am sure as others have said CW and AK will find the solution, and were working on it last night I will keep the faith and cant wait to see how we go at it in the next few games.

Brooks knocked it past em about the first three touches he had and got flattened each time...

I haven't seen a pace thread since the last day of the transfer window.

The way we stood off these rather fast black men and simply let them run half the length of the pitch before quickly sidestepping one of our defenders and drilling it in was ridiculous to be fair.

It would help as a second option if plan a isn’t working. I suspect that is why we wanted Cole.

The speed at which we move the ball usually gets us by without the need for out and out pace in the team. Last night was just a one off.

Kind of agree and to be fair the only way that I can see teams countering our system is with real pace on the counter. Fulham did it and we couldn't track back fast enough. That being said once we got into defensive one on ones we defended poorly, they had more than one slice of luck and every time they took a shot it just seemed to go in, bar the great save from Jamal.

It was pure bonky madness and even though I hate it, really hate it when we lose I came out of the Lane with a smile on my face last night. If only we could have pulled it back to 5-5, that would have been pure magic.

Onto Birmingham and whilst Cotterill will be thinking about how he can replicate what Fulham did I am not sure he has the personnel to do it?Plus it would be beyond freakish for us to concede anything like as many again. I

Finally don't want to lambast CCV as he had done really well but those types of errors have been coming, he has a habit of slipping and we've got away with a couple so far. I just think that having an experienced Championship defender like Stearman on the bench is a waste.

Littlejohn, Forte, O'Hallorhan, Poleon and Cofie all had pace. Loads of it.

"And your point is caller?"

Simple......defend deep, against Fulham and their p..a...c...e means nothing.
In crowded penalty areas physicality plays a part and Fulham have no p..h..s..i..c..a..l..i..t...y.

As I’ve said last nights match was perfectly suited to Fulham.
Our downfall was that we were too positive leaving spaces at the back.
However usually the positivity works and it’s better to win a few and loose a few, instead of drawing loads of matches.
