Did not have one chance outside of the goal. For all oour great play; they had two great chances just before half time. We created zilch. Some lovely football but we did not hurt them at all and so it was all a bit pointless. The final ball was embarrassing at times. Derby were outpassed and outplayed for long spells but had more chances and looked more like scoring than us in the first half. Second half they had the better chances and had more of the ball. 2-1 was about right for me.

I’m hardly deluding myself, over the balance of 90 mins we were very well matched against a top 6 side. The way we lost was disappointing, but plenty to be positive about in that first half.

There’s no agenda here, I just can’t be arsed with the hyperbole after every defeat.

Where it counts for me is it gives me confidence for the upcoming matches, nobody can argue with you regarding putting the ball in the back of the net but dominating teams with intricate passing and playing like we did in the first half fills me with confidence for the future, we will get the final piece of the jigsaw right, we are far from the finished article but definitely going in the right direction

Yep, the Sky pundits reckoned it was the best live Championship game that they’d covered this season at half time, and I don’t think that was down to Derby then. They repeated it again at the end of the game and that was probably more to do with the home team, but overall it takes two teams to make a great game and we were one of them.

I was proud as hell of the lads at half time, and even through our second half was disappointing and if I’m honest confusing, we showed what were are capable of. We just need to sort that final ball, that’s what cost us.

I have watched Barcelona get over 70% of the play and lose. teams park the bus against them. And they pass it around them just as we do. More often than not they do win/draw - but it is not inevitable as you seem to suggest.
