If Bryan Robson has his way Blades fans can expect some transfer activity in both directions in the next few weeks. Prior to leaving for Tuesday's New Year's Day clash at Wolves which coincides with the commencement of the transfer window he declared:

"Ideally I would like to bring two or three new ones in and I have quite a few calls in with other managers. This can be a really big month for any Club contemplating squad changes because bringing the right quality in can change things dramatically."

Robson would not be drawn on what financial muscle he might have at his disposal - "that's a matter for the board which is backing me" - but is also willing to let some players leave:

"I have made it known to other clubs that some of our players are available but any moves will depend upon receiving the right offers."

Shelton, younger players on short term loans, and I think that it's possible players like the Quinns and Webber might interest other managers. Of the others that might be wanted by other clubs, such as Stead, I don't think Robson will get rid of.

Sell Horse, get him off the wage bill. Get rid of Alan Quinn, Gary Naysmith and Danny Webber, send Shelton out on loan with a few youngsters ie. Nick Law.
