Which ones would Wilder have been OK with signing?

Which new signings will be pushed out in January? There will be a couple surely.

Tanganga, Mee (if no better options), Ogbene. I think we had a look at Barry at some point. Another striker and right back would be here and I think he'd have fought to keep Vini.

Vini and Anel were both earmarked for sale before Wilder was sacked in June, neither were signing new contracts

I reckon most will step up to a degree.

Soumare will probably benefit the most.

The player who will probably end up going will be Bindon in Jan as A - he isn't our player. And B - has looked like out of his depth. But tbh the same could be said of many.

You would like to think Wilder has been watching us with interest, (although maybe sniggering behind a Peroni) and has already formulated an opinion on the signings made.

For sure he will 100% have already got an idea of who will and won't be in his plans....his first starting 11 will be interesting!

I'd bet those late in the window were discussed between Bettis and Wilder.
I think you are correct about this.

On another earlier thread I posed the question of who did we think identified all the last minute purchases because I thought they may have been identified in consultation with a potential Selles replacement.
Didn’t consider it could be Wilder though.

Not sold on Barry. He’s the type of player wilder specifically hates, lots of flair and takes loads of low margin shots.
I just think of us being after Liam Millar and Mikey Johnston - quite similar players. Barry has goals in him too and as a result I think Wilder would have considered him once we switched to playing with wingers

Would Ogbene fits that mould of your more traditional wingers, Barry is more like zeal-Sakyi and we saw how that went the more the season went on.

I can’t see him starting Godfrey after his non display last week - I’ve not been impressed by him in any game.

Barry will drop to bench and Hamer will go out there. Not been impressed with him either looks like a shitter version of JRS.

Peck will get some help in midfield.

Mee will probably come in with COH and TC in attack.

Wilder will want to make a statement with his team selection .

Wilder will like Ogbene, but it's a shame we now don't have a target man, because he'd offer better service to one than any of our wingers last season

I can imagine us lining up like the below:

Cooper
Tanganga McGuinness Mee Burrows
Peck Matos
Ogbene O’Hare Hamer
Campbell

Reasons:
RB - not sure he’s sold on Seriki as a starter. Tanganga is more experienced and can play RB.
CB - I think he’ll like the idea of Mee’s leadership. I think he’ll see McGuinness as similar to Souttar and though may prefer Tanganga there, will need him at RB after Godfrey’s nightmare.
CM - Matos was one of the better performers and after success at Oxford already in Championship, he’s a Wilder type signing.
RW - he was interested in Ogbene before. Think he will be a great asset. We should have got him before he joined Luton.
LW - Hamer back to where he did well last year.
CF - He’ll get Campbell back scoring I reckon.

I’d like to see Soumaré as a box to box of Fleck. Hamer as the Duffy orchestrator and Peck trying his best to be Coutts. Matos can be the enforcer like Souza or Hamza.

I’d take Brooks out of the firing line and lead with Ogbene from now on.

Agree with all except don’t think Ogbene is fit enough yet so unfortunately (very!) he may play Cannon there initially!

I reckon Barry will be used more as an impact sub from now on.
If he fails at that, he'll be going back in January

I'
Other than Soumare for Souza I would say that the replacements are at least as good as if not better than the outgoing players on that list.
I'm interested in the rationale behind the conclusion if you'd care to share in case I'm missing something?

Can see Soumare going back to Portugal in January. Actually seemed a player in that cameo vs Birmingham, but not sure Wilder will fancy him with lots of midfield options.

Not sure if Wilder would look backwards to 3 at the back or stick with last seasons 4-3-3 (ish)

I think the middle three either way should be Matos/Soumare/Peck - lots more energy and grit along with "enough" ability on the ball

Move Hamer and O'Hare forward or impact subs.
