Our worst ever strikers

21 appearances and one goal.

In his entire career he has barely scored more than 5 goals a season.

Apparently he now works at Wednesday's academy. (Didn't even know they had one)

Recall him playing as a striker off the bench and out wide. And recall fans chanting his name.

My old man says Andy Sayer..My shout is the "Next Zlatan" Goran Slavkovski, never played a game but the tag "The Next Zlatan" and a loan from Inter too thats enough for me.

Craig Beattie was bobbar, Marcus Bents second stint was a waste of time and just to stoke the fire gonna throw the names Ched Evans and Jordan Robertson into the hat for obvious reasons, noticed Ian Rush being mentioned id say this is touch harsh from what I remember he played a handful of games and got stuck out on the wing.

I think Higdon was possibly the worst of all time. Paul Williams was hopeless but he couldn't help it. Higdon was just lazy and immobile.

Chris Guthrie is definitely on that list. I'd also add Viv Busby.

Some of you said Duggie Brown but he was a fans favourite at one point. Don Peattie is a good shout though - he was non descriptive.

Steve Cammack wasn't too hot either. Neither was Steve Finnieston.

Sammon had one good game away at Peterborough. Other than that he was shite.

Alan Young wasn't the worst but this ex Arsenal centre forward was a disappointment. Always injured.

Richard Cadette, Trenton Wigan, Ian Benjamin, all looked good in flashes but ultimately disappointed.

We've had some rubbish but we got excited about them at the time! Remember that the next time you get excited!

Wayne Alison: played 72, 7 goals.

Great cult hero, poor striker.
But his job was never to be allowed to get on the end of anything resembling a chance, it was to be elbowed in the head whilst trying to hold it up for other people. Plus in his 72 appearances about 68 of them were for four minutes.
*i have absolutely no evidence to back up that last statistic but that's what it felt like

With all dew respect to many of the above names mentioned. I think the winner with out question is definitely Paul Williams, many have triage tried to surpass his ineptitude but ultimately they have failed but there efforts have been truly noted .

A lot of times we could only afford crap .

Other times we paid over the odds for crap .

Incompetent managers are the cause and effect . Warnock springs to mid for buying shit .

Ashley Ward the shittist ever player to pull on a united shirt. Don't even remember him having a shot.
He scored against Leeds but you're right, I think he was just trying to clear it.

Warnock once said although he didn't cost a million pounds, if he had a million pounds he'd buy Ashley Ward. Which made me hope that we never gave him a million pounds. I hope it was just a managerial ploy to boost the ego of the shadow of Ashley Ward that we signed.
