I see this season as more a failure than a success (compared to expectations and potential...although we are not finished yet). But...I didn't realise we've only lost back to back games twice, that's not bad as a statistic (glass half full)

If you look at the brackets besides Alex Smithies's Huddersfield appearances you'll see a 0 because he has never scored a goal for them.

"So what?", you might say.

Well for some reason, the obvious thing I noticed straight away were the good and bad runs we had and, yes, I know, choosing where a run starts and where a run stops is arbitrary but this is how it looks to me.

I've kept the first two matches as a mini run of their own due to NC buggering about with his initial team selections and the figures show the percentage of wins in each mini run

P 2, Won 0, Drew 0, Lost 2 - 0%

P15, Won 10, Drew 2, Lost 3 - 66%

P6, Won 0, Drew 4, Lost 2 - 0% (4 home matches in that lot)

P9, Won 6, Drew 1, Lost 2 - 66%

P5 ,Won 0, Drew 3, Lost 2 - 0% (drew 3 away matches and lost the 2 home games)

P5, Won 4, Drew 0, Lost 1 - 80%

P5, Won 0, Drew 4, Lost 1 - 0%

P 2, Won 0, Drew 0, Lost 2 - 0%

P15, Won 10, Drew 2, Lost 3 - 66%

Good OP.
If you look at our results throught the season taking them in blocks of three, they mainly show us winning either two and drawing or losing the other one.
Ok there are some sets of three that we can only muster draws and either a win or loss, but not many.
We are now in a season of three matches. If we can replicate what we have done for most of the season, making sure the third game is a win, job done.

True. We failed to get promoted in the 2012 play offs even though we did not concede a goal in any of the three matches.

But penalties are goals, so you mean with out scoring in open play

The penalty shootout is not part of the actual match. It is a mechanism that is used to obtain a result after a match has finished in deadlock and therefore are not goals scored during a match. European cup matches used to be decided on the toss of a coin when they finished as draws. But no one would try and argue that was part of the game itself.

We had the East end of the stadium and I think that could well happen again unless (provided we get through) Chesterfield are our opposition
