No one can dispute that Wednesday are our biggest local rivals. But in a week in which we are also playing Rotherham, which of the other local clubs are our biggest rivals?
I would go for:
1. Barnsley, in the 80s we had some feisty clashes with them, I remember the Futcher brothers both being thugs. When I started watching in the early 80s Barnsley were in a higher league, I remember a League Cup game against them which seemed like a huge game at the time. Their season in the Premier League led to many Barnsley fans having delusions of grandeur and even last season there seems to be an edge to our games.
2. Chesterfield, a lot of Blades fans come from the Chesterfield area and they were a bit of a bogey side for us in the 80s, particularly in our 89 promotion side when they did the double over us despite going down.
3.Rotherham, there has been a mutual respect between the two clubs, and we loaned them a couple of players when they were in financial difficulties in the Warnock era. I might change my mind on Saturday but I can't remember many feisty games between us, we both share a mutual loathing of Wednesday
4. Doncaster Rovers, I don't sense much of a rivalry at all. I recall the Donny chairman once claiming they could become a bigger club than us and Wednesday. I like them for helping Billy's career progress!

Not as ‘local’ but I dislike Forest more than any of the clubs you’ve mentioned. Even more than Leeds.

Barnsley I agree with but not on the level of Wednesday, Forest and Leeds.

Don’t mind Chesterfield and have no feelings towards either Doncaster or Rotherham. I know I sound like a piggy here but they’re too small to be classed as rivals. Just saying what we all think.

Hard to see past those twats in S6, the rest are not even worthy of being called rivals.

The Dingles are just an irritant and a grubby little one at that.

Chesterfield are just funny.

Millers and Donny I couldn't care less about, although the former have got on my tits quite a bit recently.

A game with Grimsby always gets the blood up and so it proved pre season when the Humberside police saw the worst violence they'd ever seen. People were chanting and some shook their fists in the air.

After the grunters it’s the dingles on my loathing list, set of thumbless twats that they are.

Although saying that, forgetting league positions and the result not bothering us, it’s a fine line who I hate most between Leeds and the oinkers.

Soft spot for Rotherham,

Donny and chesterfield I can take or leave.

Quite happy usually for any of those 4 to win. Always happy for Wednesday and Leeds to lose; difficult to take sides when those 2 play each other. I don't share the anti-Forest feelings.

Of the South Yorkshire clubs and Chesterfield, Barnsley are the only ones I really dislike outside of the Pigs.
It’s their fans tbh, like mini Pig fans. I reckon that’s because the bulk of their fanbase is more or less from the same area. The similarities are remarkable, the only difference being the Barnsley fans might have one or two more teeth missing.

Not quite local in the true sense but always Leeds for me but that’s probably because I’ve worked there for years as much as for their historic shithousery which is of legendary proportions

Agree with this, really dislike Forest. In order of rivalry:

Wednesday
Forest
West Ham
Leeds
Barnsley
Rotherham
Chesterfield
Derby
Donny

1. Pigs
2. Pigs
3. Pigs
But that wasn’t the question, so;

1. Barnsley - inbred fuckers who hate Sheffield because of the supply of running water and electricity.

2. Forest - possibly as deluded as Wednesday. Okay, not that bad, but enough to despise them.

Pigs are the only local side I despise but I reserve special hatred for West Ham and that shall never change.

Pigs. - Just want them to cease to exist and not even be a smear on the history of the universe.
Chesterfield - Sorry, it's an age thing. Alan Birch and all that and the more they drain the resources of the Allen Pig the better. They can stay afloat and take decades to fade into oblivion can Tarn.
Barnsley - Never seen a more insular racist set of fans in my life. Massive chip on both shoulders. No wonder they had one of the highest percentage of Brexit voters in the UK.
Donny - Pikeys. Play second fiddle to a race-course.
Rotherham - proper club.

I hate Forest, absolutely hate them. Nothing to do with any Miners or scabs or anything like that
It's just that the four most vile, disgusting people I've ever met in my whole life were all Forest fans.

I know they can't all be bad, but when you've only met four in a working or personal environment and all four of them were the biggest tossers you've ever met, you start to draw a certain conclusion

In the 80s, Leeds was our main derby game and the hatred was quite intense, particularly after the Mel Eves game in March '85. The Barnsley rivalry seemed to emerge around 1997 when they pipped us for promotion, whereas the Forest rivalry seemed to emerge after we beat them in the play-offs and in the FA Cup.

After the s6 tramps it has to be chezzy.
Time before last we played there they were mouthing at people with kids, few lone shirters got slapped and they were generally thuggish. Absolute cowards.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnsli are just thick shits. Kinda like a toilet, not nice but the shit has to go somewhere.
Donny. Not even rivals.
Rotherham. I'm pretty much of the same view as most, dont really mind them and have no problem with them at all. If for some reason we suddenly went out of existence I'd probably become a regular there.

From Rotherham all family millers and they all hate the porcine, went Wembley with them last year great day out,
Pigs
Leeds
Forest
Derby
Don’t mind the dingles donny or chesterfield as doesn’t mean that much to me

My local club is Millwall and I have still never seen their fans shithousery equalled. Swearing in the faces of players, throwing the ball away when they’re winning and the clocks running then lobbing it on the pitch when a replacement arrives. Having to have enormous fences put up and having every set of away fans kettled until they go home and crawl under their rocks.

Add in the violence and the open racism and you have a despicable football club. When you consider that many seem to wear it as a badge of honour, I have no words to describe it.

When McG scored the winner at their place I celebrated more than I have for at least five seasons.

Also dislike Man U, West Ham, Newcastle (because of their deluded fans when I lived there) and Wednesday obviously.

I also hate forest a lot. I wonder if you’re a similar age to me. I kind of came of age bladeswise during the triple assault season and that play off semi really made me dislike them. They also had some horrible fans sat in the exec box just behind me in south stand.

Number 1 hate for me is the pigs I cant even drive down Penistone road without uttering an obscenity as we pass the sty much to the wife's amusement. Same on holiday when you see some knob walking about in a pig shirt or you go in a boozer at the coast and straight away clock a group of blokes wearing cheap looking blue track tops with fat wives in tow gobbing off at their snot nosed brats, you just know they are pig fans. You put up with them for about 10 minutes then fuck off somewhere else. Can't say I like the dingles either if the pigs are doing well they suddenly all go to the sty and desert Oakwell I call them part time pigs. No problem with dingles who stand by their club, same with Doncaster but that town has a lot of people who readily bugger off to watch Leeds or proclaim to be Man Utd's top fan. I don't mind Rotherham at all and wish them all the best after next Saturday. Chessy fans all seem to have a chip on their shoulder I think they might suffer from a small club/man syndrome. Further afield but not too far I don't like Leeds and Forest who both think they are special because of past glories won last century, someone should inform them it is 2019 and they have been shite for nearly 20years, 25 years in Forest's case.

The Pigs and Dirty Leeds are obviously a given in this discussion but other than them , I'm quite happy to see our other local teams doing well .

However , there is one that is fairly local who I fucking hate and that is Hull . This mainly stems from the night in our '71 promotion year when they produced one of the ugliest and most violent performances I've ever seen at the Lane and quite clearly set out with the intention of causing serious harm to the likes of Woodward and Currie .

Add to that the fact that when the football team are not doing so well a lot of them suddenly rediscover their love for Rugby and the fact that , as posted on another thread , Blades leaving the ground in the late '70s including women and children had rocks hurled at them and you may begin to understand why I hate the fuckers with a passion and wish them nothing but ill will .

Hate and despise the pig cunts to the extent I'd be fine if a stray nuke landed on the death trap when the cunts were playing.
That said I no longer consider them rivals as they are fucking shit and we are good. Our local rivals of relevance are the scum and the scabs.
