Our Manager

The exception proves the rule. The top two managers in the country are not top managers because they do it, because they are top managers they can afford to.

I don't know about you, but I'm not living in 2017. Mourinho is not manager of Manchester United these days.

You try to normalize managers criticizing fans, Lennon doing so is an example of it not exactly working and being conducive of anything positive.

I said it hardly ever happens and asked for people to provide examples, I didn't mean it literally did not happen anywhere in the world of football this year, surely you are clever enough to have deduced that ;)

And no I don't think Wilder should apologize, but the fact the Eastleigh manager did showed that he felt it was out of order.

I see. By these days do you mean today?

Although no one does it anymore, top managers can and do.

What’s hate got to do with it?

I meant all that off the pitch stuff, dealing with players emotions, media, transfers, budgets to name a few. I'm not sure it's as simplistic as it looks.😉
No man management from me. You have to train well then play great. No one is a first teamer until they prove themselves.
I wouldn’t talk to the media. I’d get my assistant to do it.
Budgets and transfers would be fine as I’d get a director of football in to help.

We are not in the stadium, he doesn't read social media so I don't know what and who is he referring to....

A good point, but I have thought for a while that CW does view some social media. He claims he doesn't but what he says in public and what he actually does in reality could very well be two different things (in reality I can't see him being big on social media but him having a look occasionally on the odd football forum....yes I certainly do see him doing that)

In the past I've told my wife that I don't bother looking at porn at all these days and haven't had too since we were married. She also gives me a knowing smile.

I think you're right that he isn't adverse to the internet from time to time to have a sneaky look at what's being said, or his mates will tell him what the mood music is among the fans.

It seems he relishes proving fans wrong and in his comments to the team creating an 'us vs. them' attitude which is somewhat odd as we all want the same thing= success.

In what way does “he seem” to relish proving the fans wrong?
What comments to the team is creating an us v them attitude?

Perhaps mate.

Or perhaps he's just human like the rest of us, and gets a bit snippy when he's criticised? We can put as much front on as we like, but sometimes when the pressure is on, the mask can slip.

Thats why I largely knocked the Crab Industries stuff on the head. A few people possibly liked it, but the criticism stung a bit more than it probably should.

What I'm trying to say is that CW has to wear two different hats, manager and supporter. And how this season is going will no doubt sting him on both counts. But when we are stung, we sometimes say / do stuff that maybe should have been thought through a bit better first.

By persisting with his team selections and shape and formation as discussed here:

https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.p...em-were-playing-youre-talking-nonsense.84522/

Sneering at fans calling them 'Playstation managers' and saying that their criticism of the team and players is 'cheap'.

If it works fair play to him!
One remark in hundreds of minutes of interviews, which has clearly affronted you, is hardly an attack on the fans.
He has said as much this week that the fans are in some ways right to be critical, but what is wrong with him defending the team if he does find some of the criticism cheap.
Yet when he criticizes the team as he did after Leicester last year he is accused of throwing them under the bus and was wrong.

Chris must have been reading this thread he’s disused many of the points raised in this thread in his latest interview. It is a very good interview by the way.

Ive said that on numerous occasions
Because it is the manager's job to do so (speak with the press) and its important to do so well to present the club's view professionally. This requires quick thinking and certain skills which can be acquired to go with other skills which have brought success on the pitch. Of course he knows more about football certainly than I do but to me it seemed many of the early media comments about him were potentially patronising.

I wasnt on about the media comments, I was on about the many comments from fans both our own and opposition on Wilder I really couldnt give a fuck what Shearer Jenas Crooks Crouch Lineker (the list is mundane and endless) say about us

I expect many of your management trainees had similar views about your management and communication skills but, unlike you, I am not going to be drawn into an argument and swearing. My support remains with the manager and the help he needs.

What would you know about my management and communication skills in the workplace
I was quite successful

Well said Chris
Fuck the psychologists do gooders and lefties :)

Did he really state that? Wtf have 'lefties' got to do with anything? I reckon that tweet is bollox, looks like something a thick twat would make up.

He did say it, watch the presser.
Well fck me he's gormless or has simply lost the plot. 'Lefties' fck me, is he 3 years old? Also it's worrying he's having a snark at sports psychologists when we are fully aware of the role mental health plays in sports performance, not only that, but for the general mental wellbeing of people. Does he not understand this? Is he thick or just a dinosaur?

Why reply to my post then which was?
I was merely pointing out that my comments on Wilder being a breath of fresh air in his Press statements were specifically from fans who have got used to the media trained managers churning out what they think the fans / owners want to hear

"quite" -well done!
Im 'quite' modest thank you

For someone who talks tough his man management skills have been terrible this year, he's got a team that basically couldn't give a fuck and are happy to just collect a wage.

Spot on. But then given his comments no wonder some of the players have switched off.

TBF he's had a problem with the left all season.

in an otherwise positive interview that "lefty" comment will have single handedly ruined his image amongst a lot of the wider football circles and even some of our own fanbase. The media team recieved great credit last season but this was a radio sheff/club interview and anyone with half a brain could've probably said let's cut out the politics bit from the interview, it might be a bit divisive. Not only did they leave it in but they specifically clipped that part and tweeted it out. Suppose he just shouldn’t have said it but as we’ve heard this season, don’t let 1 mistake become 2 etc.
