Like the idiot on PorG who thought we played a back four.

Then there was boring Sean who changed his opinion when Staton challenged him.
Are you talking about Statin? Twice in his Adkins interview he said back four till Adkins corrected him. Made me smile anyway,

fans suddenly got into the game when the team started to press.. after hammond went off (coincidence??).. nice pass by hammond for the goal though.. he was probably exhausted bless..

weve lost in games weve had far more possesion
Arsenal had 78 per cent possession against hull didnt win

we had more attempts created more chances , thats other than those up top
and the bbc report you mention
said we deserved it

I seriously do not have a problem debating opinions where they differ.

Please look below - I have copied and pasted the article direct from the BBC website with nothing missed.
There is NO mention whatsoever in that article that suggested WE deserved it.

Don't played stupid games with facts that you can't back up.

If you think there is anything in that article that says we deserved the game then please enlighten me?

You may also want to explain why they had 10 corners to our 2?

For the record, my opinion is we had the best strikers on the pitch which helped us to win the game.

"Sheffield United climbed to within four points of the League One play-off places with victory over Port Vale.

Che Adams almost opened the scoring after beating Vale's defence, but was foiled by goalkeeper Chris Neal.

Vale's Anthony Grant tested George Long with a curler, but Billy Sharp broke the deadlock for the Blades with a half-volley from a Dean Hammond cross.

Sharp was a persistent threat to the Vale backline, but wasted two chances to add to his earlier strike.

Former Blades defender Rob Page's Vale, who slip to 11th, had lost just once in six games prior to his return to Bramall Lane.

Port Vale manager Rob Page told BBC Radio Stoke:

"You are never happy with a defeat. Of course, we are gutted. But it is the level of performance that we set. We have played much, much better than that.

"We haven't given a good account of ourselves today against a team that were there for the taking. Our passing was awful at times. We didn't make it too hard for them.

"I can't fault the effort in the last 20 minutes . I thought we had a right go at them, but I am really disappointed. I thought we fell below the standards we have set."

Hammond played well yesterday. I watched him in particular and he was in my top three players. Thats probably why he got good applause when he was subbed with the exception of a few nob heads. The goal by Billy from Hammonds brilliant pass lifted the crowd and the team and he was still on the pitch so we were pressing when he went off. He did more in the first twenty minutes than Woolford did all the game. He was a passenger!!!

I thought the same. I also don't think his yellow card was reckless and more mistimed. It was there to be won and they committed worse fouls.

If he hadn't made the challenge the nob heads would have been on his case. The ball was there to be won . I think in these cases its who screams out the loudest that gets the decision.

The brilliant pass came of the head of a defender.

Blade too long in false claim shock!!!

Looked like a brilliant ball from the kop unlike you I didn't have the luxury of seeing the video of the game.

I saw it from the South stand as it happened. Confirmed on L1 show when I watched it last night. No video smartarse.

It was a poor ball going nowhere really till the defender flicked it into Sharp's path. Quite fortunate really. Hammond also took too long to play a pass in the first half and led to Sharp being offside. I too watched him carefully but did not see much of note. He ran around a lot but his passing was often sideways or backwards (save for above) and his tackling often led to fouls. Not sure what he offers. I think we all know if Adkins remains, he will sign him.

Remember him from unitedite
Never a week would go by where he wasnt involved in some crazy incident involving him and his missus
Attacks on buses and on the street and some fair old personal tragedy if i remember rightly

Yeah, there was that and there was a lot of sympathy because he did through a horrific personal ordeal.

There was also the blow by blow accounts of his various disputes with his neighbours, attacks on buses and then the all time personal best of getting stranded on Kinder Scout and having to rescued by the air ambulance.

I seem to think he gave up watching United to pursue a developing interest in politics......

thats the adapted version , the first post match report doesnt have managerts quotes just a few lines resumee on the game

in the post match summary it states a deserved win for sheffield united

if you go on bbc there always a quick summary that gets replaced when the managers quotes are added

Agreed, but, he did make a decent run forward into space, and at that time attempted a ball into the box, which fell to Billy to finish

More of this please, and less of the sideways, backwards from Mr Hammond

to be fair around 40 per cent of all goal s get a touch or deflection either on the way in or in the assist, if we got the rub for once makes a nice change

I don't think you'll see any of this in the next few games. ;)

So So many demonstrate a genuine lack of understanding of basic football tactics.

How many times were loud jeers heard today whenever a forward pass was not made ??

Not saying that forward passes were sometimes "on" but not made / seen. But I would trust our manager and players to decide when the penetration and transition should be made above lumping hopeful balls forwards every day of the week.

We completely dominated that game from minute one and for many, cos the ball was not in the danger areas for the entire 90 mins, this constitutes negative play !!!!

Not looking for a row but seriously, quite a few need to get a basic grasp of tactical understanding before spouting nonsense.

Good 3 points.

Sorry, on this occasion I don't agree DB.

I've played plenty of football, I've watched plenty of football and I've watched most of Utds games this season, as in the past (poor me eh?).

I think it's an ongoing problem for us. There is a distinct lack of 'offensive' movement in midfield and also 'wide', and as a result, the defenders are too often placed in a tricky position on the ball with nowhere to go but sideways and/or backwards. It happened a lot on Saturday and it was very frustrating to watch. On one occasion, we took one of our insightful, 'quick' free kicks, almost on the half way line and 15 passes later we were under real pressure and on the edge of our 25. We weren't trying to pull PV out of position. Their MF were on us like a rash and our MF provided very little help in terms of offering a way out.

Adkins is right in front of me and he was doing his nut at the MF and the defence. He was bollocking the MF for not coming short and for not taking more responsibility and he was also demanding that the defence were more direct - if there wasn't a short ball available then to go long. Nothing wrong with mixing up the play and it makes us far less predictable and ponderous. Nothing wrong with the long ball either if it's on.

I had this exact (one-way) conversation with my mother on Saturday after escorting her to BDTBL.

We were keeping the ball, knocking it around, waiting for a chance. 15 minutes in and we'd already had three decent openings, one of which was a one-on-one from which we should have scored. All the while, we'd restricted them to nothing.

Fans were booing. Ridiculous. I just don't know what people expect after 15 minutes, it's not basketball.

Sounds like your mum has good instincts;)

Fully agree with this. This is the main reason I used to feel sorry for McEveley when the fans were slating him a few months back.

He'd get the ball at left back, look up, have nothing in front of him so play it to either GK or CB then get abuse for it.

Next time he gets the ball there's a pass into midfield which he gives, is immediately passed the ball back and finds himself back to square one again, getting booed for going sideways to the CB again.

Finally not wanting to get any more abuse from the fans for being negative, he plays an okay ball into the channel for a winger to chase, the winger doesn't get there however, cue more abuse from the stands for losing the ball.

We've probably got more overly critical fans than some clubs in this league have got errrm. . . . Fans.
The Blade fans are a "broad church". We all want same thing. But we'll argue till the cows come home on how to achieve it.
