Maybe due to the fact that we play fairly open, attacking football and commit bodies forward.

This works well vs lower placed teams but will more often come unstuck vs the top teams who have the quality to expose any errors at the back, and much meaner defences. Home advantage would seem to make the difference between our result vs the top teams, both for them and for us.

Also, I'm guessing this is vs teams top half at the end of the season, rather than mid-season?
Form ebbs and flows during the season. Beating a team in great form who go onto finish lower table may be a more impressive result overall than winning vs a team in terrible form who end up making the play offs.

I agree that the stats tell a story that generally isn't great, but I think it's slightly more nuanced than that.

Didn't bode well for us when we went to Blackburn who had not lost at home to anyone for months but we won 2-0. .....So there!

Who is this seasons ‘W’ representing? We beat Bolton when they were third. We beat Norwich when they weren’t top and beat Villa when they weren’t up high.

You can’t list like this until end of season

We beat Bolton and Villa earlier in the season and they were both top half when we played them, so thats two more W to add to your list

think youll find a lot of away against top half team records look like ours, especially first season back up in the championship
have a look at boltons

we only lost 2 in league one
last years was never going to match that

The first 2 seasons - we just played on the front foot - with a general, fuck the opposition.

CW said we ran out of gas after the away game at Hull.

CW & AK have learnt a lot from last season, and for me they are playing a smarter game - starting at Norwich and may do so for the tough games coming up.

As a glass half full type, after Norwich, I expect better, smarter performances for us.

Villa have a home record of W:6, D7, L2 - which isn't outstanding for them.

We also have a fantastic opportunity to go top of the league - if that isn't enough motivation for the players, then I don't know what is.

As far as the thread title is concerned, it’s selective and deliberately misleading. Our away record is the fifth best in the league, in which case all those below us must be really, really bad.
