Osborn and Fleck Signs

I agree that we need upgrades on them otherwise we will struggle badly, but we need to put together a squad and I don’t think we can afford to find 4 upgrades, whilst strengthening elsewhere.
You ain’t going to get good players to sit on the bench unless we get a chronic injury problem these two aren’t even in the match day squad.

No one is saying that

I’d be surprised if they start more than 10 games between them next year.

But they go and you probably have to pay a fee / wages to replace them in the squad . There’s value in having experience and versatility to call on in the PL rather than someone from the under 21’s . Don’t understand how people don’t get that and are acting live we’ve set fire to money and treating the players with a lack of respect
On your logic then we should have kept Stevens

No, I think we have to sign a first team upgrade to slot into the 11 and then you have Lowe in the back up position.

I think stephens has been playing at a level below fleck has shown he’s still capable of playing and is less versatile than Osborn. I’m fine with letting him continue his career elsewhere with our best wishes.

I was really hoping this was a wanker post. Not so much for Osborn, as a last member of the squad his versatility may be useful, but that £x00k (and I fear that x may actually be two numbers more often than most here think) we've just given Fleck is basically setting money on fire which could otherwise have been used to improve an offer to Ndiaye

See the negative lot are out already 🙄

Think it's good news myself. Both will have taken wage cuts to stay and will purely be for filling out the squad.

You do not NEED to fill out the squad. Arguably we have multiple players who do not count against the squad limit who will be more productive than Fleck this season.

Simply not good enough for Premier league. Flecks legs gone. Osborne a trier nothing more

Strange on letting Billy go and keeping Fleck

Both can't do it anymore but still strange.

Provided they stay clear of injury both Fleck and Osborn are capable squad players and actually both put in some good performances towards the end of last season. Personally I felt more confident with Osborn playing LWB than I ever did with Lowe. Obviously it is cheaper for the club to keep these two than try to sign replacements who would no doubt be looking for good PL wages, but they are well immersed in the Blades culture and can be trusted in battle if needs be.

Try supporting the players. Nathan Blake came out with this quote some time ago: “the home fans at Bramall Lane are something else when it comes to being fickle. They will turn on their players, especially when you consider the season they have been having." Reading these comments it’s hard to disagree. Some fans don’t know the meaning of support. We genuinely have some of the most pathetic fans in the country.
He also said he was subjected to lots of racism, which wasn’t true either.

Fleck must be sat at home pissing himself! 😂😂😂 even the man himself knows he isn’t good enough for a top tier club anymore.

Osborn just isn’t good enough, gives 100% and can do a decent but unspectacular job in the Championship but his overall quality when needed isn’t good enough.

Not only for the reasons above but both players are really prone to injuries, that alone should’ve been enough to warn us off another years worth of Brass.

Both sets of money could’ve been made to either improve a deal for Ndiaye or bring in a player who might’ve needed both those wages combined to get said player over the line, let’s hope this isn’t the case.

I’ll support both when they put on the red and white though, that’s what Blades fans do despite the stupid reactions to some fans concerns, it’s only opinions at the end of the day.

Unfortunately both will be here longer than Hecky if thats what we've come too.........

Meanwhile, former Sheffield United striker Nathan Blake hopes to see third-placed Cardiff send the Blades one step closer to relegation. Welshman Blake spent four years with the Bluebirds before moving to United in 1994 and going on to score 34 goals in 55 appearances before joining Bolton. Now he has set the scene for tonight's match at Bramall Lane by calling on promotion-chasing Cardiff to increase bottom club United's misery.

"Despite all I had done for them, after I left, the Blades fans gave me nothing but abuse, a lot of it very personal and out of order," he wrote in the South Wales Echo.

"No, I've never forgotten what was said to me and I never will. The Blades' predicament now can't help but make me smile. "People talk about Bluebirds' supporters having a short fuse, but the home fans at Bramall Lane are something else when it comes to being fickle. They will turn on their players, especially when you consider the season they have been having."

Bit of a sensitive soul is our Nathan. Seems to blame any set of fans who give him abuse. His beloved Cardiff included. How dare we boo him when he's giving us the rods after scoring Wolves second goal in the play off final. Seems to have a sense of entitlement " Despite all he'd done for us!" He scored a few goals and was half decent when he was bothered but hardly a Blades icon.

Any comment he makes about Blades fans should be treated with the contempt it deserves bearing in mind he was wishing relegation on us.
I was never aware of our fans giving him stick when he was our player. I liked him and I thought he was popular. The only time I criticised him was when I called him "stupid" when he needlessly got sent off at home to WBA in December 1994 not long after coming on as sub

Bert liked him as well, he scored 35 goals in 69 appearances. The best ratio of his career.

He was very popular.

Exactly. That is why these two have been resigned. We need a squad of 20+ but cannot afford to “do a Forest”.

I'm fine with keeping these two. Both know how we play. Both have PL experience. Both play positions where we are already short. And 31 is hardly too old. It may not be exciting, but it's hardly terrible news.

Knowing how we play and having experience means fuck all if they cannot put in anything remotely close to a PL level of performance at this stage

He also said he was subjected to lots of racism, which wasn’t true either.
i never heard anyone give him racist abuse and that was still around the time when the occasional racist abuse was still hurled at opposing black players.……..

However the manager who got rid of him was Howard Kendall, very quickly after he took over, he was rumoured to have a “bit of a problem“ with black players to put it delicately. So maybe the racism came from within rather than without.

I’m fairly sure he blamed the fans.

Two sets of wages that could have gone towards a good quality mid 20’s loan signing?
