Some of these posts are hilarious - everyone needs a reality check.

The 'man city' dilemma! Like we'll have that to worry about! We'll still be squabbling about paying more than 500K for a championship player in 10 years time.

I think we will have an exact repeat of the start of the warnock era and after several long seasons Tufty will get us up on limited funds but a stable board

It won’t be too long before the premiership is back to its division 1 days.
Sky and all the greedy football associations around Europe, will get their collective heads together, and create the much championed (by the top clubs anyway) super leagues. Then the winners of what is now the premiership, will have to fulfill certain criteria, to be invited into this exclusive club. A bit like teams in the conference before they’re allowed into the football league.
United would then be vying for top 6 against the likes of Southampton, stoke, Everton.

It was the Moores family. They were one of the few owners people did know about in those days, because of Littlewoods. Liverpool hadn't been in the second division since the fifities and had been in the first division previously. I'd be very surprised if the Moores' funding didn't assist Shankly but I've no idea because I wasn't alive.

The era I grew up in was the late seventies/early eighties when Liverpool did win the league for the majority of the time. I've no idea why you think I grew up in Liverpool. I think you've probably had a few so I'll leave you to it for the rest of the night. Have a good one.
Well, that was one of my more embarrassing posts - I inserted 'in' when reading your post, and replied in the belief that you were brought up there. I will plead guilty when you sue me for slander. I have only had the one Laphroig (glass, not bottle). The Moores family originally owned Everton, and a later generation got involved with Liverpool in the 80s, I think. I have no idea who owned them when they got promoted in the early 60s and started their fabulous run under Shankley. I'll leave you in peace now...

Can I recommend you read Red or Dead by David Peace, if you are interested in the Shankly era at Liverpool.

Excellent it is.

There wouldn't be owt up with money if it was spread around more evenly the trouble is most goes to the Premiership where not being in the bottom three has huge rewards. Now not being in the bottom three is most of the clubs ambition, the top six are virtually the same year after year just another Scottish Premier division with more teams, most clubs have fuck all chance of ever winning the league or a cup for that matter it has all gone a bit stale.
YES and some want to be party to this pointless exercise, be it only for the money because after all that’s what is important in life... isn’t it? It’s not really about Football ⚽️! If you want proof just take a look at the FA Cup competition and why the business men first got together in secret rooms and voted to high-jack our game! even the FA went along with it. OK clubs now must go with the flow or get left behind.... so full ahead to join the elite, I wonder when United reach the promised land and receive our first £180 million, will we look down on the rest who are on peanuts and say this is wrong?
