One of the worst teams in the history of top level sport

For me, put Wilder and the coaching staff on gardening leave and find someone else to take over for the rest of the season and see what happens.

Wilder would be welcome to be considered for resuming first team duties in summer of 2021 if we view it in the club's best interests. For now he needs a break and this is too much, no shame in that and forever grateful for getting us into the PL.
Fuck that, just sack him and get it over with.

At the risk of offering balance, we are without our first choice midfield from last season.

Granted our wafer thin squad is our own doing, but with the midfield we put out today, even the basics were a stretch.

Not going to score many when every time an opposition player comes near us we shit our bills and pass it backwards.
We played without a midfield tonight!

Sorry can't defend Wilder after that, the shining light from last week was bogle and he never got a look in again. So deflated that we didn't give a poor depleted Everton side a game, lost for words i'm sorry

Another of many of Wilder's baffling decisions lately.

That said he started with a 10, just a shame we don't have another 10 to bring on.

There was over £70m worth of players on that pitch over 90 minutes and we had 2 shots on target the whole game. It’s just terrible to watch
Not really shots though, more here you are pickford pick that up and kick it to one of your players

And how much of that £70m was in midfield?

Pointless having £20m strikers if we have a Notts forest reserve and a Chelsea youth reject in midfield...

Completely agree, we’ve spent money in completely the wrong places. Wilder has always spent money on players to push the first team. We needed players to better the first team

Yep. Good save for Burke’s chance but that was it. Once Burke went off we created nothing....and even he didn’t play well but he was our only outlet

Can any of you give me a positive from that performance, player/manger/system/subs/tactics anything please because i'm struggling to find one
We have probably improved our average possession for the season with a mighty 44%. Every cloud

and then on comes Mc Shite!!!!!!!!

As I said at the time McB wasn't a bad idea to sign in case we went down and he has been ok in patches. We needed to move forward though in the summer but haven't.

Like we did with Hansen, Madine etc.

Swansea will have McBurnie off us when we swap divisions, I'm guesssing £5 million will seal the deal

Funny you should start this thread as I was thinking the opposite during the game. You would think with our points total that we get smashed every game but we don't.

Team full of triers but no footballers sadly.Ran their blood to water and created nothing, one bit of class/skill and were shafted again.

That's what saddens me, it's not their fault.

This is what it reminds me of:

The Charge of the Light Brigade was a failed military action involving the British light cavalry led by Lord Cardigan against Russian forces during the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854 in the Crimean War. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions, a task for which the light cavalry were well-suited. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a frontal assault against a different artillery battery, one well-prepared with excellent fields of defensive fire. The Light Brigade reached the battery under withering direct fire and scattered some of the gunners, but they were forced to retreat immediately, and the assault ended with very high British casualties and no decisive gains.

we just havent signed enough proven premier league players im afraid mousset is our only premier quality striker and hes never fit and weve totally wasted 40m on mcburnie and brewster

As analogies go........

Playing three in midfield I doubt there is another side in any of the major European leagues with such poor options.

Our only hope of gaining enough points to regain some sense of respectability is to have four or five in there, then at least we'd have some numbers to stop the opposition waltzing through the centre of the pitch unimpeded.

Of course, to do that would mean a four-man defence from the outset and it looks like the manager is too bloody-minded to try that as it might give the impression he got it wrong from the start of the season. And that would not do.

But will we be in a position to pay another £5m out to Swansea to take him? I mean, I've already said I'll pay the cost of the petrol to drive him down there but we probably still owe them money for when we bought him.

He actually deserves a special mention tonight, though. His disgusting 'theatrical swallow dive' in the area to try and con the ref into giving us a penalty was every bit as bad as anything you see from Grealish, Maddison et al. He reached down to new levels in that performance tonight. He's a cheat, and should have been booked like all cheats should be. His little grin and laugh afterwards just topped off my night.

Get rid.

To be fair to him though, that swallow dive and the 1% chance it won us a penalty was the closest we came to scoring in the second half!

We actually look like a non-league side, something truly specially appalling is happening here which will be remembered for hundreds of years.

Actually think as things stand we are THE worst team to have ever participated in top level sport in the entire history of sport going back thousands of years.
