One Club City

Don’t like to see ANY club go under regardless of who they are. The impact on supporters town/city etc is immense and something I would not wish to happen to anybody.

I don’t want them to become non existent- non league or league 2 would be sufficient. Arrogant, self entitled, they need a dose of reality. Rest assured Chansiri is getting them there. Transfer embargo is incoming-Rohl will be outgoing.

Reading the runes, considering the trajectory of the last few years and taking account of the insanity of Chansiri there is certainly a chance that this could happen. I’m not entirely sure how I would feel about that.

On the one hand, the rivalry has been a part of my life for over 50 years, and I’ve loved the times like now when we are undisputed top dogs.

On the other hand, and as Wilder pointed out a few weeks ago, the pendulum always swings, and my enjoyment of the present moment is, only slightly, tempered by that knowledge.

Then there’s the fact that being the only club in a football mad city of this size would give us the opportunity, over time and as generational loyalties wane, of truly establishing ourselves at a level above.

Of course, it might not happen, but there is a chance that it might. How would folks feel about it if it did?
It would never happen, clubs of Wendy’s size just don’t cease to exist….A new iteration of SWFC would just sprout up in its place.
If you flipped it round and we were the club in trouble, I’d like to think we’d follow United down to whichever level of the football pyramid they ended up in…I certainly wouldn’t go and watch the pigs.

I personally couldn’t care less if they cease to exist, I fact I’d probably celebrate it. Know plenty pigs who are sound but the overwhelming majority are arseholes, hate the mentality of that club and the weird sense of importance. Fuck em really hope they fold

There's a chance what could happen?

Given Chansiri’s stubbornness there’s a chance they could arrive at a place where HMRC wind them up. I wouldn’t rule it out. They’ve already got a track record of paying tax late.

The only person who could tip them into administration is him as their major creditor by far, and I don’t think he will, he’s determined to cling on at all costs. Thailand’s tuna industry will be badly affected by USA tariffs, so if his overall cash flow situation gets even worse over the next few months & he can’t pay VAT & PAYE HMRC would wind them up.

Even if they got wound up it'll still never be a one club city.

Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday will always exist.

My fear is an American consortium buys them and then our owners and there's deside a one club city works well for them🤑

I genuinely don't understand how anyone could want anything other than Wednesday out of existence immediately if not sooner.

We all want it…But it will never happen. Let’s face it, even little old Bury still exist.

I wouldn’t like it .I enjoy the rivalry and the banter .

Also , I would like to see both Sheffield clubs in the top league as I want our City to thrive and football can truly contribute to this.

I don't want Wednesday to go bust. I have no idea why anyone fans would wish another club out of business, especially when their fans will be friends, family, workmates etc.

Plus, one club cities create really odd fantasies like Leeds or Newcastle.

Rivalry is a huge part of football.

I wouldn't want them to go out of existence for that very reason.

I'd much rather they continue as they have been doing for the majority of the past 25 years, floating around aimlessly in the Championship with occasional forays into League One.

Wouldn't mind them sinking down into league 1 and 2 for years and eventually waking up to the idea that there's absolutely fuck all massive about them anymore.

That said, to wish a genuine football club go bust and disappear off the map, for me, is anti-football and the idea it could happen is everything that's wrong with the current mark-up of club ownership.

If they went bust and for a time Sheffield became a one club city it would do us no good.

In the reverse position none of our fans would switch allegiance and that holds true for Wendy supporters too.

A phoenix club would soon arise and the supporters of the defunct club would turn to it.

For good or ill we're a two club city.

Personally, I hope both end up competing against each other in the top Division. I'm old enough to remember when that wasn't a novelty.

I don't want them to fold. I look at Hull, Palace, Coventry etc with their fake rivalries with sheer contempt and have a sense of pride that we share a genuine rivalry with them. In that sense I'm proud to have them to hate!

I hate Derby day but I'd hate not to have them even more. One cup derby per decade would be ideal, while they forage aimlessly in the lower echelons 👌

When I hear the likes of Leeds and Newcastle fans banging on about their huge waiting lists…I just tell them we’ve got a 25k waiting list, but unfortunately ours currently goes to Hillsborough.
