It sickens me to see that some 'so called Blades' on here are softening to Piggy Dingle Wilson and will be getting behind the team.I for one will be cutting my nose to spite my face and not going to the Lane. I'll be spending my afternoon's in Medowhall until that Wednesday-ite leaves BDTBL. It's like the fan interviewed on Radio Shef said* 'once Wednesday, always Wednesday'.

I will absolutely oppose Wilson until he leaves the Lane. If he tries to bring any of this ticky tacky stuff to the Lane (see my how awful thread) then I will be down there protesting again. No surrender.

Derek Dooley

It makes me sick that we have a statue of Piggy Dooley in the car park. How sickening. He should have never had anything to do with united. He would have never have got the Chief Exec job if it was not for me.

What about his reign as chair I hear you say? Taking over us in £4m debt in the third tier and then staying with us for 12 years until we got promoted to the top flight. Does not matter. He was a pig. Should never have got the chance.

Ian Porterfield

Cannot believe that Piggy Porterfield was offered the job at United. Did they not realise he was a pig. Had I been old enough I would have been down in the car park protesting. He should have never have been given the chance to take us to two promotions. Fancy taking us from the 4th tier to 2nd tier like that. I am sure that a Blade would have taken us all the way to the top flight.

Alan Quinn, Leigh Bromby and Derek Geary

Fucking Pigs. Need I say more??!

When United beat Wednesday at the Lane in our promotion season of 2006/2006 I was not happy. Why? Because a fucking Pig scored. Alan Quinn should have never have been allowed to play for the Blades. I sat down on my hanads when he netted that goal. Once a pig, always a pig!?

Bromby the pig should have never have joined United. Fancy ius signing 2 Wednesday players at the same time. That should have not have happened. Where were the car park protests then. Bromby's 100 and odd appearences and his help getting us to the top flight mean nothing to me. Fuckign Wednesay-ite.

What about Piggy Geary. Should never have wore a Blades shirt. Pig. I would have liked Geary and his positve attitude, tiresome work rate and passion for United. However, we used to be a pig. 'Once Wednesday, always Wednesday'.

Harry Maguire

Isn't he a pig? Fuck him. Wenesday bastard. I do not care how talented he is. He might be a rock solid defender, young lad and have lots of potential. But he is a pig. I for one will not be complaining if we short sightedly sell him for a fraction of his vakue this summer.

Arctic Monkeys

Don't listen to those fucking Pigs. The first album was excellent, but as soon as I found out they are Wednesday I stopped. Never mind that they put Sheffield back on the map and became the best rock band in the word for a while.

2006

A fucking horrid year for me. I should have enjoyed it, but I just couldn't. United heading back up to the top flight and the artic monkeys putting Sheffield back on the scene. A real proud time to be a Sheffielder and a Blade. However with piggy Dooley on the board and Piggies Geary, Quinn and Bromby on the pitch I felt sick. Fucking Piggy Alex Turner ruined it too. Spent most of the year listening to John Denver and watching video's a United team without any pigs in it.

My brother

My own flesh and blood. Fucking pig. Supports Wednesday. We do not talk anymore. It's better this way. He was upset when I took a red hot poker to his face after Wednesday beat us one year. Family? Fuck them. He is a pig.

The moral of the story? Do not give that Pig Wilson a chance. He does not deserve it. Why? 'Once Wednesday, always Wednesday'.

* Anyone listening to Radio Sheffield around 11am on Friday would have heard some of the first protestors getting interviewed. The second chap interviewed was a particularly intelligent, articulate type and I use his comments.

Teddy Davison was Wendy's keeper (played for England once) after WW1 who went on to manage us between 1932 and 1952

As an aside Olly, how much did you see of Bristol, MK Dons, Hartlepool and Swindon under Wilson's reign?

What's your point?

I'll tell you if you change your signature, so that it is fatcually accurate. It is 9 seasons in League One (or the third tier) without promotion. If you widen it (either to cover extra seasons or extra dvisions) you'll find another two or 3 promotions. Or are you bending the truth to prove a point?

I read it and expected a point.... did I miss it?

There are several that you have missed. I should not have to spell them out. Would you have wrote to Shakespeare, Keates or Oscar Wilde to ask them what the point was? Read between the lines me owd mucker.

How about you guess what point I am trying to make and then I'll say if you are write or wrong?

Teddy Davison was Wendy's keeper (played for England once) after WW1 who went on to manage us between 1932 and 1952

Fucking pig. Should have never have got the job. I see he got us relegated after a few seasons. That would not have happened to a Blade. Then he got us to the final of the FA cup, only to lose (a Blade would have won it). He should never have been given the chance to take us back up to Division One and then finish second in the League. Forget about his footballing philosophy and the youth system that produced Gordon Banks. He played for Wednesday and should not have got the job at United.

As an aside Olly, how much did you see of Bristol, MK Dons, Hartlepool and Swindon under Wilson's reign?

Very little. Though I have spoken to Swindon and Bristol fans about him. They both rate him as a decent manager who's team plays good football. The forums seem to back that up. I have never claimed him to be a great manager. In fact I have stated that his record is average and at this level his record is poor. If you read my objective view on the appointment of Danny Wilson (http://www.s24su.com/showthread.php...the-controversial-appointment-of-Danny-Wilson) you'll see that I do not pain the prettiest picture. I highlight his failures and successes.

you need locking up china, in your shed at the bottom of an ocean somewhere far away

Come on mucker. Can't we be friends? :D (the shed was a metaphor by the way ;) )

4 seasons with Bristol city, 2 seasons with mk dons, 2 seasons in league 1 with Hartlepool, and 3 with Swindon.

Not all of those were full seasons, due to eithe being appointed midway through the season, or sacked midway through the season.

Where do you get 9 from?

Houso has picked some opinions from fans that say otherwise, so until I see his brand of football I'll reserve judgement. I won't however hold back on saying that his record at this level is underwhelming to say the least, and on that basis McCabe saying he was the outstanding candidate seems a little far fetched to say the least. He may well have been the best person interviewed, but until we see a list of the other candidates we'll never know.

The fact that he's an ex porker means nothing to me. Geary was one of my favourite ever united players. I do think you're doing blades fans a disservice here putting forth his piggy credentials as the main reason people didn't want him. You can't believe that the media didn't purposefully pick the most retarded element of that crowd for the main protest picture can you?

I did find it a bit odd though when he said in the press conference it was McCabe who approached him, not the other way round.

One of the seasons with Hartlepool was in League Two (they got relegated from League One and then went back up and he left). He was appointed Swindon manager in December 2008 and left in March 2011. That's just over 2 years and I think it would be stretching it to say it was 3 seasons (though technically he was manager during 3 seaons).

Inaccurate. Wilson was in charge of Hartlepool for 2 1/2 seasons. His first season was a promotion from league 2. He had a full season in league one and then got the boot in December of his second season.

Yep, there will be some that do not like him. However I feel Houso has cherry picked comments to suit his argument. As many are bending the facts to say his record is shit (he took Swindon down is the favourite).

I agree about his record. Like I said in my thread about his appointment his record is average at best and at this level he is poor.

(I should not have to spell it out but) this thread is not aimed United-ites who did not want him purely for his record. It is aimed at numptoes who cannot get opver the piggy connections. Many Blades feel that way. You might not, but the majority of those in the car park did not want him because he is ex wednmesday. You only have to look at the photos, the banners/signs, listen to the interviews, read posts and apply a bit of common sense.

I actaully think that many are unimpressed both factors. They would normally be apathetic about the appintment of someone with an average record, but as he is ex Wednesday then it has pushed them over the edge. But you (and others who did not want Wilson for his record only) should not take offence at this, as it is not aimed at them. Highbury, there are a lot of United-ites who are not as smart or balanced as you are!

The thing with irony, is that you have to be able to realise that someone is being ironic. I still can't decide whether Ollie is taking the piss or is serious. So either way, it hasn't worked. Puzzled of North Yorkshire

Ok, fair enough. Wikedpedia is wrong!?*

So he took Hartlepool up from league Two to one and then kept them up the following season. He was sacked in December. That's 1 and a half season's in League One.

Are you (wrongly counting) Swindon as his second relegation from League Onbe Highbury?

Technically he didn't take them down, but given that they were 5 points from safety when he left, i think it's fair to say most of the damage was done by him. Paul Hart didn't exactly shower himself in glory when he took over, i'll grant that.

Current Wikipedia entry on Danny Wilson's time at hartlepool. (from your link)

Hartlepool United
On 13 June 2006, Wilson was appointed manager of Hartlepool United. Wilson takes over from Youth Team Coach Paul Stephenson who took temporary charge of the First Team for the late stages of the 2005–06 season. Hartlepool United were relegated alongside MK Dons to League Two.
In the 2006–07 season, he has brought Hartlepool to second from top of League 2 and has won promotion back to League 1.
He left Hartlepool United on 15 December 2008, leaving Chris Turner in temporary charge.

Poorly worded, but pretty clear that at the end of the 06-07 season he had brought hartlepool back into league 1.

that's the beauty of it North Yorks. It is left to the imagination. Was Steven Patirck Morriesy really singing about gay sex??!

Take yourself over to Whitby for the day mate. Have a few pints of Black Sheep in the Dukes and have a ponder. The right answer will come to you in time :D

perhaps you would have preferred to keep martin peters as manager and don givens as captain in the 4th division, who knows with a pair of wankers like them in charge we could have been playing non league football

olle mate.. you should know by now from the shed thread that some of these people simply don't get irony.. spectacularly in some cases

Indeed Olle. You could've re-written the Monty Python sketch and done a whole routine on 'what have ex-pigs ever done for us' but some would still have missed the point.

A very poor attempt at irony?
No I wouldn't because it's actually possible to understand the messages they're trying to convey whereas it's impossible to tell whether you're serious, being ironic, trying to be funny or all wrapped into one confusing bundle

Esteemed company indeed, Olle. One must suffer for one's art, mustn't one? :)

>it's impossible to tell whether you're serious, being ironic, trying to be funny or all wrapped into one confusing bundle
only if you let your prejudices against the poster get in the way.. otherwise its easy

As I'm new on here I don't know the poster well enough to be prejudiced
Maybe it's because I'm new and just don't 'get' the OP
Who knows
