On the subject of long subjects can I raise the subject of the numbers of support from Watford considering it was Boxing Day

Agree...even by Championship standards it seemed poor.
Every one sat near me....at kick off time...looking at the away end and said it felt like we were playing a Boxing day match in league 1.

In their defence, they’re not well supported, they’re doing shite and there were no trains running today. But yes it was poor. Only team not to sell out our away end all season?

I get the slight mitigation about trains and their overall support but couple of hours up the motorway on one of the biggest football days of the season and on the back of their msn united win. I couldn’t believe how piss poor their numbers were,

Surely should have fetched 2k

Neither Palace or Southampton sold out either but brought far more than Watford.
The away end holds 2,800, think Palace brought 2000 and Southampton about 2600.

Maybe they don’t have as many fans as other teams?

Does it matter?

No I doesn’t matter in that I will lay awake tonight thiinking about it but thought it was worthy of a comment. Genuinely thought they’d bring s couple of thousand with them. Palace brought twice the numbers on a Sunday lunchtime

Not being negative about the OP, genuinely making the point Watford aren’t a huge team but with plenty of local “big team Charlie’s” nearby. Having said that, they were also very quiet, like us.

I get that mate and I know you weren’t been negative but thought the numbers today were shocking.

How an established premier league team who regularly attract 20k, cant bring anymore then around 1300 on Boxing Day astounded me

Fair enough. Thought both Palace and Southampton’s followings looked more full than that.

We were very quiet indeed. I was tempted to sing “football in a library” but I think I’d have got shooshed!

Probably the least noise from a home crowd of that size for a long long time. Nowt ‘appenin on’t pitch though...that’s why!

Fucking Fleetwood brought more, if ever a club had punched above their weight it's this set of cunts (maybe Bournemouth too). They are the new Pompey, hope they crash and burn and fuck off to L2.

Merry Christmas.

I hate Boxing Day home games...fucks my match day routine right up. No trains = no beer = no irrational post match verdict in the Crem....Also Saigon 69 was fucking shut.

It's Boxing Day and a lightweight team is followed by so few supporters, it makes me question their right to play in the PL.

I love boxing day games. However I also was pissed off that saigon 69 wasn't open. Have a like.

They made more noise than Liverpool and Man U. Hardly anything, I grant you, but still the odd muted chant. I’m still shocked by how silent Liverpool were. Burnleys fans made more noise at 3-0 down than theirs did at 1-0 up.

Those using the excuse of no trains and saying this thread is Wednesdayesque, I couldn’t give a flying fuck, we’d have taken 10,000 plus down to Watford today without a train or the massiveness of thinking, it’s the Blades way that’s all.

Not that it matters but we took 5,500 down to Stoke in the championship once on Boxing Day, need I say any more?

They are lightweight impoverished team with a poor following. They earned the right to PL football via the lottery of championship football. A small meaningless club that belongs in the leagues below.
So you question their right but now they've earned their right? In what way are they impoverished?
