Game at Swindon shown on Sky last night. Good / bad memories.

Bash played / scored
Coutts played really well
Great goal Che Adams - pity we let him go
Reminded me how poor McNulty & Flynn were.
Playing in Div 1.

Don't want to spoil it for you, Putney lad, but it doesn't end well.
Put the kettle on when you see 90 mins come up is my advice.

Yeah - I caught that. It's been on a few times recently. Horrid memories of us playing poor football and trying to nick a win somehow.

Foderingham playing in goal for them an all. Lets five in at home!

Memory serves me right in thinking we made hard work of the home leg and practically gave them their away lead to go back to their ground with. Gash marking and closing down.

And that horrible pus yellow kit.

I thought (at the time) that we had the better of the chances and were the better team for the home leg. The stats suggest that it was pretty even, with lots of chances for both:

The away leg looks pretty similar on the stats, despite the score line being so weird:

The home leg of that tie was the one where Bob Harris inexplicably stood so far off their right winger (was his name Byrne?) that he was practically sat on our centre half’s lap. As a result Swindon got the ball out to Bryne at every opportunity and he was already running at pace by the time Harris engaged him so kept either waltzing past or getting fouled.

It was totally out of character for Harris, who I thought was a decent full back at that level, to give Byrne that freedom to tear him apart. I often wonder if Clough had instructed him to sit so narrowly but remember it being one of the most painful full back displays i’ve seen in an position which had contained Marcus Williams and Jordan Stewart not many years prior.

That's why it's on

If we'd won 5-0 and turned it around it'd never have been shown again

Even our own section on Sky Sports shows 10 games from the past, and no matter how often they change them at least six of them are defeats

Nowt to do with this but tv related, game v plymouth on bbc platform, so watch it on iplayer

I was at the game (local for me for a change) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even the result, which meant we wouldn’t have to go through another heartbreaking playoff final defeat.

Yeah, I imagine Preston would have been too strong for us - didn’t they win the final 4-0?

I had come down with a nasty virus that week that sapped all my energy and meant I slept through 115 minutes of what was arguably the best game of the season (even though we lost) 🤣

Seeing Nigel Clough laughing his cock off after we went 3-0 down got reyt on my tits. Only time I didn’t renew my season ticket was after watching another season of his shite.

Fortunately they sacked him and replaced him with Nigel Adkins so I went down and renewed..........

Yes, it was bizarre the whole game Byrne kept running at our backing off defence causing many problems
Every one in the ground could see what was happening expect the manager who presumably had told him to sit deep.
Terrible management to let that continue

Watched this last night after seeing the thread. Adams' second goal was class.

I forgot how shit Alcock was.
Forgot how good Harris' crossing was.
Forgot we were 3-0 down (5-1 on agg)

Also - i'm glad we didn't get promoted under Clough in hindsight. We would've just stagnated in the lower half of Championship
