got it wrong today. Didn’t understand game plan and not sure players did either. Seemed to be roll it to egan and then I’m not sure what next. All options closed down, no movement and then end up in a kick it up field and hope a defender misjudges or something. Subs confusing as well. Dominating the ball and constant wave of attack and see baldock coming on. Thought fair enough getting osborn off so there’s a bit more composure going forward only to see him take norwood off who was starting to dictate the game for us. I’m not sure that second goal goes in either with norwood instead of fleck having to come deep and pick up the ball but obviously we’ll never know. Not shouting for him to be out or anything but just thought he got it wrong today and hopefully he fixes it for Tuesday now he knows what to expect

Bullshit. That was the same team and set up that nobbed Fulham last week. That one was on the players - way too pedestrian and indecisive in possession and left huge gaps in behind for forest to exploit.
Subs weren’t great but we’ve got naff all on the bench to change the game. To be fair, PH took Norwood and Stevens off because they were poor today. He’s not going to go all out attack in the first leg of a play-off and risk going 3 down and tie over.
It’s halftime and we’re a goal down…but we’ll have to do a lot better at their place.

Not lineup I’ve got an issue with. Would have been stupid to change a winning team. Just thought the game plan was wrong.

Bottled it 1st half

Everyone's opinion is valid but I have to say this is bollocks.

If it's "on" anyone it's the 3 players who stank the place out and the 3 others who lost their individual battle pretty much every time the ball came near them.

Considering our opponents played to a level I don't think we're capable of, I'm not sure it's really "on" anyone though.

We didn't do the basics.

I'm not sure how that is on Hecky.

We turned over possession repeatedly.

Both goals were avoidable. Basham let the cross in far too easily. Then of course Osborn had his roller skates on. Second, well, we all saw it. Not sure what the hell Egan was hoping to gain. We wanted the ball forward not dicking about going backwards even if he hadn't made a balls of it.

This is on the players and the staff. The fans showed up and they didn't.

Midfield was non-existent. Defence was wide open. Attack kept walking into trouble. Some of the crosses and set plays were abysmal.

They all need to have a long hard look at themselves.

Is it difficult to win away, yes. But if you have any hope to get anything you have to beat what is in front of you.

The goal gives some hope but that was a monumental fuck up of a performance first half.

Though I will say having no VAR in the semis is bullshit. You might have known the one team that would have a major call get missed would be us.

It's only easier to accept because they should have been clear at the end of the half.

We have got out of jail there, we should be dead and buried..

Thier poor finishing has kept us in it and fodieringham was magnificent...

I wouldn't have started osborn, I'd have started boldock.. Other than that no issues with the team selection.

How we are still in the tie I don't know..

Maybe, just maybe.....

Second time in succession that Forest have turned up at the Lane and done a number on us. They know our weaknesses and force the errors. Over to Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall to counter that next time.

Credit to the other tram better than us all over the pitch again

Idiot purely down to players no offence pal

Sometimes the opposition are a bit better.
Very true, but when it becomes clear they are too good we need to change tactically and maybe a change of formation because let’s be fair it could have been 6. We seem unable to change tactically when it’s plain for everyone to see.

I agree. I reckon our defence undermined all the rest of it today though. Pretty much all Forest did to cause havoc was play long balls down the channels and our back 3 were nowhere. I know Enda had a 'mare 1st half but Robinson was nowhere to be seen (he seemed to be trying to follow Johnson everywhere but left huge gaps).

Then when we were finally playing, daft mistake from Egan. I felt a bit sorry for the rest of them because Forest had to do precisely fuckall to threaten us. Even at Sunday League if a side are doing the same against you over and over again you do summat to counter it- we let them do it for an entire 45 minutes.

On the players today.

Hecky kept a winning team.

2 mistake fucked us for the goals….
Game plan was go for it..which we’d all agree before the game..problem was that left the defence all over the shop… Hecky showing nievity

Similar level of teams. Johnson is CL quality. That’s the difference

We started slowly and seemed poorly organised for the goal. But thought we got to grips with them a little more and were decent from 10-30. Got in down the right but lacked the quality to create a chance (Berge heavy touch, MGW poor cross etc.) whereas when they got in they turned it into an opportunity. Fell apart 30-45, should probably have conceded another but got away with it. Came out 2nd half the better team, midfielders wanted the ball and started playing. Had them penned in until we gifted them a 2nd

I'd love to know the reasoning behind the Baldock substitution.

While I get that hooking Norwood was probably the right thing to do, but bringing on Baldock in a game that needed a change was baffling to me.

Regarding the performance, abysmal. Fleck, Norwood, Osborn & Stevens were shocking and made it too easy for Forest to cut right through us. I can't foresee an upturn by Tuesday night, the Forest players will feel confident (and hopefully, complacent) that they outfought and out thought us today.

Nothing dropped today, just kept belting it up front to our 5ft 5 strike force. Spence and Drennan had a field day, we’re lucky not to be 3 down at half time.

The only criticism I can have of Hecky is that we played too high up the pitch that it gave Forest's players space to exploit and pull us apart with their pace. If the back line had dropped a bit deeper they'd have been restricted to shots from outside the box. We played right into their hands by being so high up all the pitch. All they had to do was lump it up to Johnson and he caused us all sorts of problems.

This one is solely on the fact that we made 2 mistakes & conceded 2 goals. They missed other chances, but if you don’t put the ball in the net, you don’t win games of football.

We’re going into another 90 minutes of football with 1 goal to make up.

We’re still well in this game.
Agree completely with that, I was listening in the car coming home and just didn’t remember the chances that Forest should have scored from when callers were saying it could have been 5. Ive just watched the highlights, 2 slips from us that they scored from, both teams could have scored from a header, that was it. First goal in the second leg majorly important but as SwitchBLADE Smiles says “We’re still well in this game”

Agree completely should be dead and buried be a different game at Forest sneak the first goal and anything is possible.
Could and should have been game over Forest will be gutted they battered us yet only 1 goal in it 🤞

Easy to blame Hecky. Players have to take responsibility for a change.

The only gripe for me is it should’ve been Baldock for Osborn, but I can’t knock him for keeping the team the same after the last 1 1/2 games.
