Olsen

One day the penny will finally drop for some. We need new centre halves who can kick and head and defend and who are leaders.

Not saying Olsen is the answer but if you have two decent centre halves then just watch the transformation to United's defending. A decent ball winning midfielder wouldn't go amiss either.

Bash came back in tonight and looks out best defender. I wonder why.

He's one of those keepers who can make an excellent reflex save from a shot that looks unstoppable

But the rest of his game leaves alot to be desired.

A YouTube goalie i would call him.

Blatantly obvious that he doesn’t really want to be here.

I'm genuinely shocked at his level. I was expecting so much more from him. Another really disappointing signing to add to the list.

He doesn't want to be here, that's all I can see. He doesn't seem that arsed, like he's got the hump at ending up at a stop start second tier team in the North of England.

He was rated fairly highly at Everton last year I believe, so it is a bit of a comedown I suppose.

Different player for Sweden, add watching Ramsdale transforming into prime David Seaman at Arsenal and I'm starting to think that maybe we've just become a bit of a toxic place to be in the last 12 months or so.

First time in many, many years we are void of a decent keeper at SUFC.
Completely agree. Think some are letting their frustration with Olsen shape their opinion of Foderingham, who I don’t think is any better. He’s only played 4 games so hardly a huge sample to form a judgement either way but if I remember correctly, he dropped a complete clanger in one game (against Luton) that nearly resulted in us conceding.

I sincerely hope that Slav and the transfer team are looking at cheaper (and hopefully much better) alternatives for our goalkeeping dept next season.

For what he costs compared to what he's contributed so far, I'm glad that Olsen is only on loan this season and goes back in the summer (same also for Hourihane and Davies tbh). If we also release Verrips then that means we have Foderingham left only. I would like us to bring in a new undisputed number 1with Fodz as back up. One of the kids can be number 3.

For me rule number 1 in Slavs GK requirement / set up is that he needs to be completely comfortable with the football at his feet, is that Olsen ??

I don't have anything against Olsen and want him to do well for us but for whatever reason he's looking very unconvincing right now. I guess if you've little trust in your defenders it adds more pressure on to yourself as a goalkeeper.

Saying that, it took Ramsdale a while to settle in but he settled right in at Arsenal so maybe it's us..

Olsen doesnt at all fill me with confidence but in fairness to him hes sitting behind a defence that constantly looks terrified whenever the ball is heading towards them. There is almost a total acceptance that the ball will hit the back of the net at any moment ( and it usually does ) and we all feel that in the stands so why would the players be any different?

ok so they are allegedly professionals that should be able to perform to a level that would ensure a goal conceded was unfortunate other than inevitable

It is funny though. Ramsdale was the worst signing ever and should be cut. Months later and he is in the England squad, the most expensive English goalie and playing well for Arsenal.

Olsen has been very good when playing for Sweden and he is obviously more than good enough for the Championship.

I will agree that he has not performed all that well since his arrival but once (if?) the defense improves, so will he.

I expect that his loan will be terminated in January, we're probably paying him a fairly decent wage and I'm sure with World Cup play offs coming up he'll want to be playing regularly

Credit where due, Foderingham has really raised his game since getting in the side. He looked atrocious in his cup appearances last season, but has actually been very steady for us when called upon this season. Keep it up big man!
We all make these statements! Then when they come good you get dug out on a comment you’d forgotten about 6 months ago.

McBurnie is a bad alternative to Sharp. I hope someone digs me out on this in 6 months 🤣

I asked one of my contacts if we could send Olsen back if we wished, the answer was 'only if Roma want to take him back, it has to be agreed with the parent club, we can't simply terminate his loan.' Not sure if this is 100% accurate but it is what I have been told.

He sure knows his stuff does Darren!

Foderingham is not a good alternative.

Think I need to join in.

Brewster will not get into double figures by the end of the season!

It's really strange watching Olsen and Wes.

Olsen looks the part, big and commanding and competent when I've seen him on the box, calm as you like, until someone lobs him from St Mary's church yard or he freezes like a statue as the ball pings around the area.
Wes, I'm heart in mouth every time the balls in our half but he, routinely makes fine saves.

My expectations were (and are) obviously to cock on these two.
