Ollie Norwood

One of countless reasons I want us to go up this season is for him to have a last crack at the top table.
Yes he points a lot. Yes he has given away many free kicks in dangerous areas, yes he often returns the ball to the player 10 yards away without looking up, yes he has often been infuriating with his dead ball delivery and shooting.
BUT as others have said. All of that is overshadowed by his great fitness and availability. He never hides. When he's on it we fly.
Any player who isn't truly world class who is involved in every game he plays as much as Ollie will make mistakes and attract criticism.
We should probably start looking for his successor now because when he walks off the pitch in our shirt for the last time he will leave a seriously huge hole to fill.

I think one thing is different about his set pieces this season. Rather than trying to ram it tight and low over the first man. He is putting a lot less action on the ball and just going for the right areas. Whether that's a training ground decision from Hecky, or because we have more players we can simply back to win the ball in the air

Last point I think. It was Kryton head Egan or nothing for the last few seasons, now we have Anel, Clarke, McBurnie all a threat in the air. Also when fit Robinson has a goal in him from set pieces

Well remember when Ollie arrived "on loan" with agreement to buy from Fulham for reported £2 mill fee and we managed to ship out Lee Evans for (again reported) same amount or thereabouts. Great credit to CW and recruitment team. Remember Ollie's first League game against Villa which we won 4-1 and he scored. We all wondered where he had been hiding and why no one else had bought him. We have all criticised some of CWs buys but this was one of his best.

Should be given a new contract unless he's got the one year extension in which case that will suffice - not meant to sound like a backhanded compliment honest! I think if he can play with confidence as he did in first season up in the top flight then he can do a job there again but I'd still like to see an upgrade if we're promoted, which would make Norwood a squad player. He's still a big player for us though and in the season we got promoted he was my player of the season. He comes across as a level headed lad and just gets on with his job. Without doubt one of the best signings we've ever had in my view, certainly of those where decent money was paid for a player, but then again a bargain at £2m.

We need to be looking at tying him down for another year. I presume he'd want two years though, given his age. It's probably worth the gamble given he plays 90 minutes every game still and even if he becomes a bench player he brings something which can be gamechanging.

His assists numbers this season are massively improved. Back up to the Wilder promotion season with his deliveries.
Noticeable that the mob who love to crucify only give him backhanded praise now. No clue what he has to do to win them over. Absolutely phenomenal midfielder at this level.
Best CM we've had in my lifetime for me

Outstanding against Cov, he was everywhere, some great solid tackles, blocks, interceptions as well as his usual high standard distribution.

OK, the odd thing might not come off but he reads the game so well that he is often one step ahead of his team-mates.

Very close between him and Ndaiye for POTY at the moment in my opinion.

Hugely improved this season.

I honestly do not get the -he pings it to nowhere brigade - I think they know nowt about footie , honestly I hang my head

His best by a mile

Might take all my money out of the bank, there's 10mil missing from dynamo zagreb or whatever they complain about with the open reach shit

Been a great player for the Blades. Took us to a new level and is heading for 200 games in the shirt. I would love to see him get another promotion on his CV. if not for Billy he is Club Captain material.

This is something that worries me going a long way back. Often wondered what this squad would be like without Norwood and Egan. I am not Norwood biggest fan, but even I have to admit, he’s having a great season.
We coped well enough without Egan, but it’s good to have him back in the frame. If Norwood is injured or suspended, how would we manage?
A midfield 3 of McAtee, Berge and Doyle. Ndiaye and Sharp/McBurnie up front? Plenty of attacking support from Bogle, Lowe, Ahmedhodzic and Clark.
I did used to think the loss of either Egan or Norwood could hit us hard, but now - not so much.

Good prep for next season when we lose the Man City loans, and Berge always vulnerable to a tempting bid. (This assumes we get promoted of course).

I personally think if we go up we could retain mcatee and Doyle, as good as they've been they're no where near the city first team yet, another year, with us in the prem ( if we get there) would suit both parties
