Oreit muckers. A ant written a match report cos a fought yer’d all av watched it on Sky TV. But all jot darn a few foughts abart Sundi. Excuse me if it dunt mek sense, cos a drank a lot or ale n a weren’t wearing mi specs.
Gerrin deer
Strange owd day. We started off in Wellingborough. Never heard o d place afoor, but mi mate said it weren’t far from Coventry. Engineerin works tha sees. Mi mates from Derbyshire n he knows t’Midlands better dan me, so a said oreit. He assured me that Wellinborough weren’t far from Coventry. We had a couple o beers in Wellingborough at a lovely pub called Coach n Horses (good real ale n reasonable snap) afoor we headed t Coventry.
First fing that strook me abart Coventry wer ar different it looked. A cunt believe it. Aritecture were different than a remembered, shops nicer, pubs better …. Even d locals spok differently. A dint remember any cobbled streets or grand building when a went to Highfield Ruad for FA Cup game in 98. Any ruad, a put it darn t too much ale when a last went to Coventry (2002 on Boxin day a fink) n mi bad memory.
Taxi driver were a reit know nowt n he dint know weer Malt Shovel Tavern where, so we got dropped it off in tarn centre. 16 sheets weren’t bad to get from Northamptonshire t Warwickshire mind. We ended up in Wig n Pen, which were a cracking ale house. Only problem were dat they had sum Octoberfest nonsense guin on and der were loads o Bavarian flags. Not all of yor numpties r as smart as Olle, so a shud tell thee that it is blue n white!? Fucking Wednesydayite twats. But the ale tasted gud, so we sank a few more pints.
A fought it wer a bit bizarre tha no fooker cared abart football n a dint see any huam fans, but a dint fink owt or it. A just kept suppin. Any ruad, we gor another taxi t’ground just on time.
Stadium
Mi first impressions or t’Ricoh were ‘fook me, this is shite’. A just cunt understand why they wanted t move from Highfield Ruad to that shithole in middle o nowhere. It dint look like a new stadium n facilities were crap. Plus there were no fooker there. Blades end were full like, but no home fans. Ad heard sumert abart Coventry avin sum trouble, but fook me, no fans. It were tiny n all, n one side were miles bigger than others. Tuvver end, stand were reit small. Worst bit, there were sum freeloader watching from top or n hill. A cunt believe it. Gerrin ground n pay like rest or us, y bunch o twats (...... mind you, a fel like joinin em after abart 5 minutes o watching that shite).
T'match
A knew dat dat Piggy twat Clarke wud scoor, but dint fink it wud be wi his first kick. Gash. First heif were terrible. Shockin defending all ranr’d. It may as well of bein Captain Blade defendin for their 2nd rather than that two hat Doyle (for their 2nd). Collins looked like the owd Collins dat played under ale house Micky. The only highlight of the first half were seein Monty back! He looked bigger than worra remember, but it was nice to see no 17 chasing shadows agein.
2nd heif were reit different. All or a sudden United decided to attack. Dunt get me wrong, Coventry dint gi a fook like, but at least we had a gu. Some fellow ad never heard of came on at heif time n did well. Obviously Weir went nuts at heif time, cos they were a different team. A were a bit surprised t see such a muck n nettles, up na at em approach, but hats off t Weir for changing his style. Monty looked a lot more skilful than I ever remembered, plus Brandy did well. King looked a lot slimmer close up n he took his goals well.
We had loads o chances wi Flynn, McGinn, Brandy and King all guin close. Coventry ad plenty o chances too mind, n dat chubby porcine two hat should av bagged a couple moor.
Not much else t report. As we left t’Ricoh it felt much moor like Coventry. Industrial estates, factories n generally pretty grim, it felt like proper Midlands.
