And if Bert needs a third party to get his ticket, then I'm sure Trigger would oblige

Funny you should mention that, Trig has been very quiet on this thread so far, for fear of accusations of sycophancy.

In terms of freebies to watch The Blades, Trig actually owes Bert one, as Bert once treated Trig to a ticket provided by a supplier to Bert plc for an away game v WBA

Which is how Trig and Bert came to be in the home end at The Hawthorns and the supplier became an ex-supplier the following Monday morning :-)

evolution is intrigued by Trig's metamorphisis from Lenner's stalker to Bert's Boswell or Sancho Panza.

Crouchy has met Bert on a number of occasions but has yet to be treated to the legendary Bert hospitality. Crouchy wonders if Trig will be at Leyton Orient and if so, whether Trig fancies a pint beforehand?

This could start a whole new sub thread of things people on here are never heard to say:

Broomhill Blade: "this global warming thing really worries me"
Bert: "sod it, it's only a couple of quid, who cares".
Walthamstow Blade "Life's really too short to argue about that"
Olly : "I really like to keep myself to myself"
Beighton Blade "I think typing in stndard English is so importnat"
Me: "you do what with your girlfiend? Tha's disgusting".

There must be many more....

Darren: "I don't know anything about that game but I'll look it up in the Blades Bible"

baldken once met bert in the away end at Grimsby, or Cleethorpes to be precise. It was the night Kozzy scored.
Though baldken thinks the terms 'away' , 'end' and 'scored' should never be used in a thread where bert is involved.

Unfortunately, Trig has a prior engagement, otherwise he would have been delighted. Trig hasn't been to Brisbane Road since 1978, a 2-1 defeat as he recalls.

Unfortunately Trig is wrong. That 2-1 defeat was the first game of the season at the Lane. Sabella's debut and all.

Darren can tell Trig that the return fixture was a 1-1 draw on 11th Nov. Peter Anderson got the goal.

However, Darren things it possible Trig may be referring to the game at Orient the previous season. That was on Easter Monday 27th March, but unfortunately Trig is wrong on that as well. That game was a 3-1 defeat. Campbell got our goal.

Trig was present at the 2-1 home defeat and the away match must have been the 1-1 draw, as Trig recalls it was a Saturday game fairly early season. Trig thanks Darren for his prompt and efficient reply.

The 11th Nov game was indeed a Saturday. It was the day before Darren's 12th birthday. He got a Subbuteo set.

Crouchy thinks that that is a shame as Crouchy hasn't seen Trig for some time. Crouchy hopes that Trig will join him for a pint at some point during the season.
