As we will almost certainly write wage reductions into contracts if we get relegated players will also want release clauses in their contracts. I suspect all this negotiating increases timelines for doing deals....and our blood pressure as days pass and out squad doesn't get any bigger

I don't think you'd want to be mates with anyone from Preston......
Lad in our village is a Preston fan, good lad but it's difficult to understand a word he says and when he's been on the ale which is most of the time it's impossible, just smile, laugh and nod your head

Same as what Jagielka had in his contract.

If we get relegated there is a release clause of a set figure.

I assume it's the club covering itself by giving players a pay cut if we get relegated

From the player point of view, they want a release clause/trigger inserted into the deal. If relegated £Xm offer triggers talks with the offering club.

From the club point of view, they want a salary reduction. If relegated salary drops by X%, bonuses by X%.

If there is any stall by the agent it is normally about the 2nd rather than the first, unless United have put his release trigger fee at £50m :)

McBurnie and Maupay would be great

Just can't see both tho. Surely one or t'other?
Wouldn't be surprised if we got one this summer, then got the other one in January

Have you any mates at Brentford or Preston? If not can you get some
I went to a boarding school so I have mates who support their local clubs. I know a Brentford fan but he isn't a regular at Griffin Park. He is more interested in Rugby. As for Preston, no one during my time at school supported them.

What even is a relegation clause? if we get relegated tell him he can just piss off somewhere else?

If only. Fulham's Tom Cairney had a relegation clause in his contract which meant that his pay would drop by 30% in the extremely likely event that Fulham went down. Fulham dropped the clause, signed him up until the summer of 2024 and he remains on £60k a week. Could be he's got a decent agent, could be Fulham have got more money than sense as - according to Fulham fans - he was good in their promotion side but was out of his depth in the PL.

Hope that jagielka bloke int comming back cost us millions wi his hand ball then did a runner

Fuck it, I'm going to do an ITK guy post.

McBurnie 👀

I will now sign off in a way that demonstrates how smug yet approachable I am:

All will become clear soon, sit tight fella 👍

Would be my favourite and 20 million for Maupay just too much
Hope this is true. I won’t believe either of the rumours until done though.

If Brentford are sticking out for £20m for Maupay then let’s leave it till Jan when Blades will be doing ok in the Prem and Brentford will be doing “middlin” in the Championship and they’ll take 50% of that.

Meanwhile, get McBurnie for £12m.

That’s my advice.

Here's my advice CB:

Sign em both, but write out two big fat iou's

Tell the two clubs they can have the useless bastards back if we don't stop up

Sorted

;)
