Oli FUCKING Arblaster

People keep talking about loyalty however we have nurtured Olli and made him the player he is and seems people are hoping for one more season. If he goes in a year all the talk about him sticking with us for a year sounds to me like he's doing us a favour. If he goes let's drop all the bollox about him being one of our own, to me he will be gone like Kyle Walker etc and become no longer relevant except in terms of us producing players and becoming a feeder club for the big boys instead of is holding onto players and attempting to progress higher up the football scale until we start to hang onto our best assets we will remain in the small league.

What's the point of having new owners if we can't hang on to our jewels that's the all point of the sale int it ! Taking us to the next level as the Prince calls it.
Selling Kyle Walker as we did was down to Mccabes sell at the earliest possibility .things have changed under the Prince and we don't sell young players for peanuts now.
The new owners must take the same view or were back to the Mccabe days.Every player has a price even at city!
Kyle Walker sale was utterly ridiculous it was obviouse we hard a future player on our hands and Mccabe sold him to spurs as a make weight in that deal to spurs.
Be interesting if he comments on that in his book! No way can he have a good excuse for doing it.
That was selling our crown jewels on the cheap.

You can add Ipswich to the list. McKenna apparently loves him? Again, apparently he wasn’t interested?

My own opinion is that if we fluke promotion we may get to keep him a little longer. If we remain in this division and the right club shows interest (right club in the right location) he may move on?
Fluke promotion???? How are we going to do that? If we get promoted over a 46 game season (including the 2 point deduction), I reckon we will have well and truly deserved it.

It's hard for some people to type anything positive it has to go through a whole network of mental blocks like a kind of sub conscious version of manic miner with the positive thought having to fight it's way through levels of varying danger with an end level baddie, each one harder to defeat than the last

Manic Miner. Get in! Have a like, sir

The only way we get to keep Oli long term is if his form never invites interest from bigger clubs, or if our league position matches his career trajectory (for better or worse). In the first scenario the adulation from Blades fans would quickly peter out and fans would want us to upgrade. So it goes…

As such, I enjoy seeing our lads go on and succeed after leaving us. I’ll always think well of Ndiaye, Berger, Walker et al…. Selling players for big money is only a bad thing if the club screws up the task of replacing them. And I’d rather we had desirable assets, especially for as long as we’re brassic. Which is most of the time.

And yet there are folk on here who would prefer not to go up this season.

They'd like to lose Souttar , Gilchrist . JRS , Blaster , Souza , Hamer & Anel and then see how we do on smaller parachute payments if any.

As much as we hate the experience , we need to go up asap.
I am one who hesitates to go up this season. I understand the points you are making, but I am not sure all those players would leave if we have come close and are adding quality to the squad.
If this group, with additions, goes up it will not be good enough to compete yet. We are then almost certain to be relegated with the negativity that comes with that.
It’s a fine balance and part of me wants to have another go at the play offs !!
Should we end up getting promoted then so be it, but I would not relish another season being stuffed.

Enjoy him while he’s here. Which won’t be long.

ALL the top clubs sniffing.

I’ve said plenty times and happy to be proven wrong in this, but I fully believe he’ll be the best player we’ve ever produced.

Regardless what Kyle Walker has achieved.

if he has a decent season, 10goals, as many assists or more. What would we take for him? £20-25m? If Hamer is valued at £18m by us then surely Oli is more given his youth and is investing in his development from a young age?

For one so young and relatively inexperienced, he looks so damned assured.

The way he maintains control under pressure and brings the ball out of tackles against him, finding just enough space to jink away and leave his opponent chasing shadows, is as good as anything I have seen from seasoned pros at this level. It's early days but so far him and Souza have completely dominated midfield every time I have watched them this season.

As others have said, I doubt we keep him for long unless we go straight back up, but all the noises are that he loves SUFC and wants to stay. Eventually that loyalty will be tested beyond any reasonable bounds though.

Personally, I'll always think of Maguire, Walker, Arblaster etc. as one of our own.
Regardless of what club they're at. If the club can't keep up with the players speed of development then they'll move on. There's millions of pounds at stake and their families financial security.

There's no point in feeling bitter about it, only the top ten clubs in the World have the privilege of not needing to sell.

So long as they remember their roots and continue to support us from afar, it'll be reciprocated by most Blades. And if they come home before retirement, and that arrangement works for all parties, all the better.

Love that little manoeuvre he does where it looks like he’s going to chest or take the ball in safely facing his own goal then right at the last second just drops the shoulder, lets the ball run across his body and bursts forward in a fluid 180 degree turn.

It’s top class. Something you’d see from Iniesta (and no I’m not comparing him to Iniesta)

He looks quality
Only slight criticism I would have is a couple of times after doing brilliantly to create space for himself he took to long and let sissoko ( who he had just mugged off) time to get back at him and ease him off the ball

Minor criticism and one I'm sure he will learn

Yeah was actually surprised to see him caught on the ball because usually his awareness is so good.

Interesting that the port vale fans thought he was the best they’d seen. When two sets of fans both rate a player it tends to work out well.

He does look like one that will make it. Has been in every England age group and if the likes of brentford are after you, then you’re showing up at the top of the data. Hopefully we can keep him here for two seasons to give promotion a go. But don’t be surprised if he gets ten goals and ten assists this season and someone offers silly money (30-40m). I’m not saying he’s worth that, but that’s the market for his profile these days.

So much more control yesterday with Blaster in the midfield. He didn’t have his most standout game but everything he does is clean, deliberate and positive. Beautiful watching his awareness and playing on the half turn. Peck is promising but Oli elevates the team and complements Souza perfectly. Will be fun to see Blaster and Peck as a central two once Vini picks up his inevitable suspension.

Loved Wilder’s complete straight faced lie in the pre match as well. He’s actually a crap liar - you could totally tell something was up because he looks shifty and starts fondling his left ear lobe 😂. I actually thought that meant the injury was much worse than feared and he was playing games ahead of the Leeds match. Have no idea if his subterfuge had any affect on Luton but we were class anyway, so I’m not complaining.

Agreed while Peck is a great prospect he's a livewire who has highs and lows.

Blaster just gives us that calming composure, dictates the tempo and just makes everything tick so much better.

Both will have long decent professional careers in the game tho.
