Would they not kind of prefer to collect them themselves, rather than sending them to a company for nowt?

Failing that, sending them to another fan who collects them?

Last summer my best friend from my Junior School days gifted me about 300 programmes from the 1980's until the mid 2000's, because he knew how much I loved the Blades and I'd lost mine in a house move. I'll keep them for the rest of my life as it is something nice to own, and every now and then I'll pull a couple of them out and have a read through as it is a trip down memory lane.

It has inspired me at a later day to get on ebay and add to the ones that are missing and create a library of programmes

That is what gifting should be.

I've posted about this before but I'm still after both Plymouth and Portsmouth away from 2006 that I've lost somehow along the way. Happy to provide beer tokens if you can help, or just chuck them on ebay and let me find them

Whereas I guess the gateman was having an off day on this one and didn’t do his ripping duties properly!!

or more likely just let us in after the football special threw out 1000 Blades all trying to get in down that back entrance along the railway line..

I have the Crewe one myself but yes I’d say the Darlington is worth that to serious United collectors as most of us just paid cash at the turnstiles. I’d say the Halifax could fetch £10-15 as well.... Are you tempted? ;)

Blimey! Who’d have thought my passion for saving all things United would be of interest to others. Here’s a couple more memories. I like Scunny cos the ground ain’t no more but there’s something about the York one that really appeals to me. That sort of Fifties look to an Eighties world!

Guessing Plymouth one will be rare because you needed it to get Luton ticket.

I’ve got a Plymouth one, or should have, as I went. Couldn’t make the Luton game as I’d got tickets for Arctic Monkeys at Magna, but I may have given the stub to one of my mates. I’ll check for you.

I remember the guy in a sort of sentry box on the cricket ground side has so much money coming at him he didn't have time to issue tickets. We just chucked the money into his collecting bowl and carried on into the ground.

Poor guy was open-mouthed at how much money was coming his way.

I wonder how much he kept for himself?

I also remember chatting to a Darlo fan and he reckoned there were more here than when Southampton visited and he said that gate for that match was 18,000. The official gate for us was what, 11/12,000?

I bet they had loads of revenue pilfered that day

As suspected pudseyblade, I’ve looked through my collection and it’s not there. So I must have given it away.

I’ve always said there were far more than 11-12000 blades inside Feethams that day. None of this loyalty points stuff back in them days, it was pay on the door. We went around the cricket pitch too so the couple of blokes letting you in were filling 2 stands all with cash paying customers!! He must have been tempted surely!
