Fulham 1 Sheffield United 1
18th February 1967
United had three away games in London, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds. Mick Jones scored at Charlton, one at Fulham and one more in the replay at Bramall Lane. His future team mate Allan Clarke was playing for Fulham.

United won the replay 3-1 with Bill Punton having the best game of his life for the Blades. It wasn't Bill Punton's most important goal though ;)
I went on the football special train, which was the trend in those days. There were over 32000 at Craven Cottage.

Report in the Times today about Great Yarmouth Town winning in the FA Cup preliminary round mentioned Bill Punton (above left) still being involved with the club at 90. He looks well for 90...

Used to sit with my dad and his Wednesdayite mate in the pub. Him being a really great bloke for one of them. He'd always say "I remember that Bill Punton tha knows. Bald headed bastard"! 🤣
same bald headed bill punton that smashed it past wicks at the shoreham end in february 67 from 2 yards 🤭🤣🤣🤣

That last one is Paul Garner at Newport in our 4-0 defeat on 3 Jan 1981 I believe. That was the day after Peter Sutcliffe was arrested. I remember reading a report that said that at full time Unitedites thought Harry Haslam should be in line for a long stretch (he did in fact leave "by mutual consent" 2 weeks later).

are you sure that’s Len? This is a photo from around the same time and he looks quite a bit different from your photo.

That is George Jones of Bury, not Len Badger. Both played in the 1963 World Youth Cup final at Wembley.

I might be wrong, but That's not Badger

Was there, most embarrassing performance I'd seen until last season
