All episodes are on YouTube if you want to rewatch
Na....... my guarding days were in warmer climes, shorts, football type sox, 50 rounds in a waist belt, 5 of which were in the magazine in the Lee Enfield, until some silly bugger let one off in the guard hut. After that 5 in mag., mag in pocket, I ask you!!!.That you XM guarding the crossbar ?
What an amazing story, are there anymore tit bits of your granma and HL. Bread and butter to this thread, thanking you in advance.Beastly rotters. My grandmother was the first person to put a cicket ball into Harold Larwoods hand (she said) and she taught him how to bowl with it, she was a primary school teacher in Annesley once upon a time.
Blades players LtoR, Hamilton, Summers, Coldwell, Lewis? Looks like Graham Shaw, if so why is he way over there ,Hodgy, Joe, not convinced about this, process of elimination, Hoyland.
Is that an early executive box on the rooof?
Not much, it was one of her stories whenever someone mentioned cricket, she worked at Kirkby Woodhouse school and encountered the young Harold there, although I think it started as French cricket. There were so many England international cricketers around there back then that they were taken for granted, my grandparents on that side (who both came from there) died quite a while ago so I can't remember much more, if you want to write a book let me know and I'll ask my mother what she remembers! What an amazing story, are there anymore tit bits of your granma and HL. Little snippets, like yours, on players I find very interesting and cricket gives its self so well to this. Probably me being brought up on John Arlott and Jim Swanson radio commentaries. I'd like to bet even they didn't know about your insight into HL.
Thank you for partaking with it.
Was looking for a photo of HL, finding this and had to include it as we have a photo of Mrs XM with our first, and both woman faces have the same expression. Like 'a cat who's got the cream' as mi gran used to say.View attachment 115931
Reight pair o' legs must have played football when older. Seat cover is the right colours, top photo.
Do you or Tickhill Blade have photos of late 1960s/early 1970s posters of who are our opponents for our next home game?

Got to be a caption competition on this photograph.
whatever it was, I don't think any of them wanted to pick it up,,
Remember being dragged around the market as a kid, while mum did the shopping, anyone remember the massive weighing scales just inside the door? Cant remember if you stood on them or sat in a chair?
