To settle an argument I'm having with myself, at the time we signed Dempsey from Manchester United I'm sure I read somewhere that he'd been an actor before turning to football and had been in an episode of late 70's kids TV series "Potters Picture Palace".
There's no evidence that I can find to back this up definitively although imdb does credit someone with that name appearing in an episode. Problem is,it has him down as an American actor which would seem strange as the programme was set in the Manchester area (fits with our footballer) and the charachter he played was called Desmond Bagshaw..... not very American sounding.
In the general scheme of things this is all rather irrelevant and trivial other than to my sanity but if someone could put me out of my misery it would be appreciated.

This has cropped up before on here. He was certainly in it according to a few on here (series 2) I recall. As you say, finding any sort of confirmation is a bit difficult.

3-0. Scorers were Finneston, Anderson 2. Rioch's only goal for us was in the 3-1 win at Newcastle
Silent, didn't we hit West ham for 6,night match at Lane, Bruce Rioch on loan it a screamer, not better than woody tho.
I reckon you were that pissed you were either seeing double or you watched the highlights and thought the replays were ‘new’ goals.

RIP

Sir Trevor with Mike Bailey

Who would have thought that within a few years of this picture, when both clubs were in the top league, they would both end up in Division 4.

We got there quicker than they did, 1981 to their 1986 and we both got back to Div 2 in 1989.

Haha, bit 2 young 2 have been pissed, memories come back a bit, Rioch it a screamer but Phil Parkes made a world ie save at Lane end, what a good keeper he was by the way. Don't know where a got 6 from 😊. Should never have been relegated with players we had at club.

What a good photo, clear as a bell, show it in Blackburn and there must be folk who can pike themselves out. A younger Mike England, Welsh international and over 600 career apps., and United a team in transition. Mathewson, established, solid and dependable. Birchenall, young playing his eleventh first team game, having scored seven goal to this point, what a prospect. In the background 'The Old Guard', two internationals Hodgey's legs, always liked the red soxs touch that season, wonder if it was his idea? and the best full back to come out of Sheffield Graham Shaw, coming to the end of his career. Delighted you posted this, thank you.

Would you rate Graham Shaw above Len Badger ?
