Just to be pedantic Angel St is the left turn off the High St at Castle Square which is only pedestrian access the vehicular access is left off the start of High St just after the junction with Arundel Gate before Fitzalan Square.
Just to be even more pedantic (is that possible?) when you turn left at the bottom of High Street you turn into Market Place (where the Banker's Draft is) before it becomes Angel Street. Market Place is supposed to be the shortest street in the city.

Oh just got a bit confused with the picture being if Skye edge, because I went to sj John's infant school for a short while before I left to go to parkhill juniors..I also went to Norfolk comp..1981-1983.
I did St Johns on School St, St Johns on Manor Oaks Rd then Norfolk which I left in 1974.

Now trying to be uber pedantic the left turn at the bottom of High St just before it becomes Commercial St is Haymarket.

Looking down High street with the hole in the road at the bottom, then probably Waring and Gillows behind that (C&A expanded into that unit when W&G shut down)
Yes spot on, got my elevation all wrong, going up instead of down, although the bus stops on the right stumped me for top of Haymarket and should have put me right Thank you.

Mace's? Pet store on top left with talking bird. Used to be fascinated with it.
Wasn't Mace's on two floors? Entrance off The Gallery, as you say, and one off Exchange St with an internal staircase enabling transit between levels. Can you remember their resident cat, 'Blackie' not a hair of any other colour on him and a big cat in height and length. Often seen curled up fast asleep in the Exchange St window as if he was part of the window display.

Yes I stand corrected. Can't remember cat, there was a fly in window but I think that was dead. Sorree!

The lino in the kilt is a very interesting character. Captain Robert Main Christie; served in the Black Watch at the Boer War, player for Queen's Park, youngest cap for Scotland at only 18, Scottish curling international, renowned architect in his home town of Dunblane and later serving in WW1 dying in Rouen aged 52.

Interesting article on him:

Thanks for that, an interesting read. Never knew that you had to appeal for decisions in football in those days, same as cricket.

The England player who has just taken the throw in was Harry Johnson (senior)

It's weird seeing pictures of the Castle Market. Only demolished a few years ago but already feels like it has been gone forever.

What an odd place it was. Strangely cool in some ways, utterly horrid in others.

All the times I popped in over the years and I still never fully figured out the layout or how all the various levels linked together. It was even more confusing when it linked into the Sheaf.

Despite the wretched stench of fish, blood and bleach, I miss it.

I met Mrs sitwell in the castle market back in 1989 when she worked at the newsagents. Knew almost everyone who worked on that floor.
