Oct 71 v Man City
Used to wonder where “Elm Tree” was as a kid. It was a common sight on the destination of many buses. It turns out it was really “Manor Top”. It’s not something you see now. Probably because the “Elm Tree” pub no longer exists? Or does it? I don’t know? The buses confused the life out of me when I first came to Sheffield. Intake, Halfway to name but 2 bizarre names to put on the front of a bus.
Where many first dates were met. Platform A. The “threpenny bit” as we knew it.
I’d guess early 60’s? 1964?What year was this?
Not sure. Looking I'd guess late 50s?
Wiki saysI’d guess early 60’s? 1964?

Pond Street around 1950 or a little before. I started senior school in 1953 using Pond St on homeward journey. The domed roof building, platform A &B, if memory serves me right was being built then and by the time I left school it was as this, below, only the buses looked better in 1958.What year was this?
Was this the game 'Doc' had a goal disallowed? Ref said hand ball 'Doc' denied this saying he chested it down before scoring. I remember seeing an after the game photo in the following Mondays paper, 'Doc' with his shirt showing mudded ball mark close to the armpit as proof he didn't handle the ball. Looking at this photo there certainly seems to be a ball shaped mark on 'Doc',s shirt in the aforementioned place. Rest my case M'lud and a more honest a player than 'Doc' you'd find hard to meet
Gillingham? First game of season....scored all four
Yes and also he did it v Wrexham in a FA Cup game three months later
27. 8.1983 - Keith Edwards v Gillingham Division 3
19.11.1983 - Keith Edwards v Wrexham FA Cup 1
The photo above would have been taken in the 1970's, I'd guess mid-1970's?Pond Street around 1950 or a little before. I started senior school in 1953 using Pond St on homeward journey. I think the original photo of Pond St. would be as late as mid nineties. The cream and red livery on what was branded as Mainline buses, I think started in about 1993 so to see all the buses in that livery would be a few years after this date. The photo above would have been taken in the 1970's, I'd guess mid-1970's?
It was a bad era for bus livery eh? The photo below shows the traditional livery of an old Booth & Fisher bus, they used to run services from Killamarsh to Sheffield, via Eckington and Dronfield, and were my main source of travel into the city as a kid. On the right is a photo of a Sheffield bus in traditional blue and cream livery. And the one in the middle belongs more to the era captured in your photo above.

I reckon that the blue car in the foreground is an Austin Maestro hatchbackPond Street around 1950 or a little before. I started senior school in 1953 using Pond St on homeward journey. If so, the photo dates from 1982 onwards
